Overnight stay at Ibis Styles

Sam B TripAdvisor review

Following a very long day at Gatwick! ending with our flight being cancelled we were eventually moved to the Ibis Styles hotel. The staff at the Ibis Styles were spot on considering the number of very tired and frustrated people and very little info from Tui!!! They dealt with us quickly and politely. Nice comfortable rooms and a good breakfast. Given the circumstances an excellent hotel experience.

Great staff!

Staff at the desk were all so friendly and helpful. Big thanks to matteo who checked me in yesterday night after the longest day of travelling ever! He was so kind and helpful and really made my day. The day staff accommodated as late a checkout as possible which I really needed which was also really helpful!

Peaceful and tidy with helpful staff

After a complete mess with massive delay at gatwick, Ibis put 180 of us up at short notice! Despite a long que to check in as it was late at night, the rooms were impressively clean and comfy. The breakfast provided was very tasty and even my fussy teenager was stuffed! There where several staff members who went out of their way to liaise with gatwick and find out what was happening with the flight as we where having shocking communication with the airline. For what was a really stressful situation, being in this nice environment with helpful people really helped keep what could have been chaos at bay. Many thanks from all of us on the delayed XQ691 on 8/7!

Great service!

A Bumpy Layover: Comfort Meets Chaos at IBIS STYLES Gatwick

I recently stayed at the IBIS STYLES Gatwick Hotel due to an early flight the following day. My experience was mixed, with some notable issues that marred what could have been a pleasant stay. Check-in Experience: We arrived at 2:10 PM, only to be informed that check-in was at 3 PM. Despite booking via the Accor App and using my points to reduce the total cost to around £50, we were unable to check in early. I was meeting a work colleague at the hotel, so we decided to order food while waiting. Dining Experience: We ordered soup, salmon, chicken wrap, and fries. Unfortunately, the food arrived at different times, which was quite inconvenient. The soup came out first, followed by the salmon ten minutes later, and then the wrap. My wife placed the order as I was on a Teams call. When she paid, the staff member asked if she wanted to leave a tip before we had even received the food, which felt premature. My wife declined at that moment, and the staff member responded, "You don't have to if you don't want to." After the salmon was served, I spoke to the staff member about the delay. She was cold and mentioned they only had one person in the kitchen. I expressed my concern about the staggered service and requested a refund for the wrap and cancelled the fries. Initially, she refused, insisting that the single staff member in the kitchen was clearly the problem but our issue. I had to point out that it was indeed their problem and that we should have been informed upfront about the delay. After some discussion, a refund was finally processed. Room Experience: We finally got our room around 4:45 PM. The room was comfortable but very small, especially considering we had large suitcases. The hotel has been refurbished, but a significant design flaw is the air-conditioning controls. The bright green LED light on the unit remained on all night and was quite disruptive. Breakfast: (we did not have thew breakfast) Continental breakfast is served from 4 to 6 AM. There was no noticeable price difference between the traditional and continental options, and I would not recommend paying for it. Overall Impression: The price after using my points was acceptable, but the standard £100 cost is too high given the experience. The confrontational staff and the delay in receiving our food were particularly disappointing. As a result, we chose to dine at the Gatwick Manor Restaurant that evening, which was a much more pleasant experience. The food at the hotel, when it did arrive, was good, particularly the potato soup. In conclusion, while the refurbished rooms were comfortable, the service and dining experience left much to be desired. Improvements in staff training and better communication about service delays would significantly enhance the guest experience.
