We always find the Ibis a welcoming hotel clean and well presented. There is only one minor ongoing problem, the hot breakfast is not always hot! By the time you get back to your table the heat has disappeared from the food.

I have stayed here before and if you are familiar with the Ibis brand this is pretty par for the course. They have instituted a new policy - for “security purposes” apparently - of demanding ID at check in, but do not make this clear prior to arrival. Why someone staring at my debit card (and potentially copying down the numbers) makes me safer remains unclear. Don’t bother with online check in as it makes absolutely no difference - nothing was prepared in advance. There were queues to the doors to check in when I arrived. The rooms are clean and comfortable but the foyer is a zoo, on my stay full of loud inebriated crowds blocking access to the elevators. If I were a single female traveller I might find this confronting. Breakfast queues were long. Staff warned guests about the high number of mobile phone thefts in the area. All in all an adequate stay but for the price this is lacking polish in a number of key areas.

Great location but...

Like this hotel, it's in a great location close to the Southbank and excellent transport links and staff are all very pleasant. But... although we arrived after the 3pm check-in time the room wasn't ready and we were left hanging around in the reception for half an hour which was an annoying waste of time as we were on a tight schedule. When we eventually did get to the room there was a plastic bag covering the smoke detector which had obviously been put there by a previous guest. Surprised that housekeeping missed this the first time, so there was more delay while this was sorted out.

BunchOfLilies Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

Had a decent stay at Ibis Blackfriars recently. The room was clean & comfortable, fairly basic as you would expect. The breakfast was quite good. If you’re looking for a budget hotel in this area, I’d probably recommend the Travelodge Southwark over here. It was fine though I had no complaints.
