Having completed the online check-in before flying from Australia to London, I expected the arrival process to be smooth. We arrived at the hotel early to leave our luggage, but were told the luggage room was full and that they would “see if they could find somewhere else.” They eventually did, but it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff simply by asking. As our room wasn’t ready, we decided to have a cocktail at the bar while we waited. Unfortunately, service was incredibly slow. It took around 20 minutes before anyone took our order, and another 30 minutes before our drinks arrived. One cocktail was supposed to be served over ice, but it arrived warm with a single piece of ice that had melted before it even reached the table. The biggest issue was check-in. Despite the advertised 3:00 pm check-in time, we were repeatedly told no rooms were available. We checked at 3:00 pm, then again 30 minutes later, and still had no room or any meaningful explanation. Meanwhile, we watched numerous other guests check in and head straight to their rooms. After waiting another 15 minutes, exhausted and jet-lagged after travelling from Australia, I finally had to insist that we be given a room. It was an extremely frustrating start to our stay and the lack of communication made the situation even worse. Once we finally got to our room, we discovered only one towel had been provided despite it being a twin room booked for two people. To top it all off, on the morning of check-out, housekeeping knocked on our door at 7:00 am and then entered the room before we even had a chance to respond, waking us up five hours before the 12:00 pm check-out time. Overall, the hotel felt very disorganised, communication was poor, and the customer service was disappointing. As international travellers, this was not the welcoming experience we expected after such a long journey. I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.
