Our second visit. We were granted an upgrade to a junior suite. Unfortunately, it was directly above Pillar cafe and the hair salon. At times, the patrons noise was highly audible in our room, which did interfere with our quiet amenity.

There are hotels… and then there are truly historic experiences. Our recent stay at the Raffles London at The OWO was something very special from the very moment we left home with the anticipation of staying in one of the most historically significant buildings not only in England, but arguably within the Commonwealth itself. Originally built in 1906 as the headquarters of the British Army, this magnificent building was once the nerve centre of an empire that spanned the globe. Walking through its corridors knowing that figures such as Winston Churchill once worked, briefed and helped direct wartime strategy from within these walls is genuinely breathtaking. The history is everywhere around you, and of course the links to the birth of James Bond and 007 only add to the atmosphere and intrigue of this extraordinary venue. Arriving by car is an experience in itself. From the warm welcome by the hotel porters to being swept through the grand entrance into one of the most beautifully restored buildings imaginable, the attention to detail is simply exceptional. It is difficult to do justice in words to the standards throughout the hotel. The quality, cleanliness and design of the rooms and suites are absolutely first class. Every member of staff delivers service with genuine warmth and professionalism, and nothing is ever too much trouble. What impressed me most was that it is often the smallest details that define true luxury. Fresh milk for tea in the room rather than UHT cartons, impeccable presentation everywhere you look, incredible dining options and one of the most memorable afternoon tea experiences imaginable. The entire experience was elegant, refined and unforgettable. A truly world-class hotel set within one of Britain’s greatest historic buildings.
