The hotel staff went above and beyond to help us - especially when our Taxi did not arrive. 2 Oct - we booked a taxi to take us to the cruise terminal and the Taxi did not arrive after 1 hour. The guy who was working on reception felt so sorry for us and he called several Taxi companies to try to help us, but they were all flat-out busy (fans of the Rugby World Cup were in Marseille, as well as 4 cruise ships, it was crazy busy). So the same guy asked his colleague if he could use his car to take us (4 adults and all our luggage) to the cruise terminal - in his own car! This was above and beyond. Tip: if you book this hotel, be respectful to the staff - they are very kind and doing a great job!

Have your tried to get to the hotel from the train station by night? It is a very bad image: So much poverty and decadence.

IBIS budget so was aware that this would be basic and did not have high expectations. Location is isolated from Marseille centre but with easy access via 10 min train journey (5 min walk) or 20 min bus journey (5 min walk). Room, standard ibis budget basic, extractor in shower not operational so strong damp smell in room. Not sure why towel has to be so small and useless, not really seeing the budget there. Reasonably clean though floor bit dirty. Staying for large event so hotel space at a premium and as such was happy to get any room but even at that, very expensive for what was a basic stay.
