We spent a couple of days at the Ibis in Karlsruhe, this was our second or third visit. Neat and tidy, we paid for one of the bigger rooms which had lots of space. 24 hour bar downstairs with very affordable food options. Short walk to the train station, tiergarten, restaurants etc.

Your colleague which is working on reception - from Croatia, I didn`t remember his name - is the best person ever. It was really a pleasure to speak with him, he was very dedicated and wanted to support in any part - where should we go to eat, how was our trip, who is playing footbal today :-) Great customer service.
