The hotel itself is well placed on the edge of the city near the airport. There are good facilities, a gym, multiple restaurants and a useful shop. There's a mosque nearby for prayers (which may wake you up!). The cleaning and catering staff were great.
The issue I had that brings my scoring down was the fact my room was automatically cancelled. I was due to arrive in the small hours so booked the room from the day before and specifically stated in the notes I would arrive the next day, early morning. I reiterated this when checking-in online. When I arrived at the hotel my booking had been cancelled (and I had been charged). Presumably because I was deemed as a no-show despite making it very clear on my reservation and check-in. I had a lengthy wait for this to be resolved, but I did eventually get the room I had paid for. The knock-on of this was that my drinks voucher had been cancelled too! This again took and age to sort out as they had said I used it (on a day when I wasn't even at the hotel, at a time when the bars were not open). This was not a major issue, but did sour the experience after I had been so diligent with my booking.

On reservation we requested connected rooms , he said he put note of our request, we discovered there are no connected room at all hotel,
At check in We requested sea view they said not available,
2nd room was not ready , delayed at check in ,
At checkout we requested late check out they provide only one hour , it's was difficult to convince them to give 2 hours ,no flexibility,
After cleaning rooms no new water no new tissue box as we have to request,
No room option for big family , very small rooms ,
Next room noise of the shower can be clearly heared.

Relaxing, comfortable, and flexible - Why I didn't give 10: The female steam room/ Sauna area was noisy. A child was there. (16th morning, around 11.00 am) Then I didn't get the sauna bath. The Jacuzzi for women didn't work due to a technical issue.

Novotel Abu Dhabi gate has beennour go-to hotel here in Abu Dhabi for almost a decade now and it still brings that feeling of serenity and rest. Although you have to change your pillows and make it fluffy.
