We arrived around lunch time but early check-in was not available due to their system error so we had to come back at around 3 PM, so that was a bit inconvenient. As a Platinum member, they offer a little lounge corner which we can access using our room key. Welcome amenity was also provided inside the room. The room itself was quite hot even though the air con was on. Overall it was a nice comfortable room, although the staffs could be more welcoming and friendly.

Mercure Hotel is just a few minutes walking distance from the 100E Bus station. Its location on the busy shopping street - Vaci Utca allows guest to shop and eating out is No problem at all. It’s also close to the Danube river where most of the sights are locates.

Great location, could do with a few improvements. There was only 1 pair of bathroom slippers and 1 bathrobe for a privilege room with a double bed when two people were occupying. Disappointing that wine was only available for 2hrs in the privilege lounge, I booked the room specifically for the privilege access and nowhere on the hotel website did it specify this was going to be the case. As we were sightseeing most day and returned to the hotel after 6pm we couldn’t make use of this facility. Both me and my wife are Radisson blu VIP members and I am a IHG Gold Elite member as I I travel a lot for work. The lounge perks are significantly superior and with much longer hours. I would appreciate a response to this point.

Beds are like sleeping on concrete with cheap, flat pillows. Staff weren’t overly friendly - never heard a good morning or hello.

My overall rating for the Mercure Budapest is a 6/10. The highlight of our stay was undeniably the staff, who were incredibly welcoming and helpful, as well as the hotel's fantastic, central location. Unfortunately, the facilities fell far below expectations. The property feels very dated and poorly maintained, with many elements appearing to be falling apart. We encountered an unpleasant odor in the bathroom, and the bed was extremely hard, which significantly impacted our comfort. Logistically, our room was situated at the very end of a remarkably long corridor, requiring several minutes of walking just to reach our door. Once inside, the layout of the room felt very awkward, with a noticeable lack of proper storage space to organize our belongings. Overall, despite the wonderful service and prime location, the poor condition of the rooms makes it hard to justify a longer visit. I would not return or recommend this hotel to friends, unless perhaps for a brief one-night stay.
