This hotel is a little gem! For the price the hotel rooms are extremely good value and the location is excellent. However the real stars of the show are the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Tamas, Adam and the staff were amazing in Winestone Bar and restaurant, we could not rate their service more highly. Peter was terrific at check in and Bence at breakfast in the privilege room was awesome. Early check in and late checkout really helped us make the most of our time. We really appreciated the effort all the staff went to in making our stay in beautiful Budapest great and we are already planning our next visit!

Disappointing Experience at Breakfast – Mercure Korona Budapest

Very disappointed with the breakfast experience at Mercure Korona Budapest. My colleague and I were in a rush for a training session and didn’t have time to eat, so we took a small sandwich with us. As we were leaving, a tall staff member (possibly a manager) came over and rudely took the sandwich out of my hand, saying it’s not allowed. We tried to explain we were in a hurry, but he showed no understanding or basic courtesy. Policies are one thing, but treating guests with zero empathy or respect is unacceptable. He could have simply said, “I understand, but please don’t do it again.” Instead, we were treated like we did something wrong. Very poor customer service and an unpleasant way to start the day. A more customer-oriented approach—such as acknowledging our situation and gently reminding us of the policy—would have been far more appropriate. The interaction left us feeling embarrassed and disrespected, which unfortunately overshadowed the rest of our stay.

LMD1963 Families - TripAdvisor review

Hungarian A/C is not the same as US A/C and the vent leaked. My sheets were wet and I know I didn't do it. That said, I unfortunately got sick in the hotel bathroom and despite all my efforts to clean up, there was a mess. Came back from a day of touring to being locked out of our room until we paid for the cleaning. If that wasn't enough, I don't think the job was that great as I still had to do some cleaning of the sink and counter. RIP OFF! I'll make sure Gate One knows...

Regarding the condition of the room ,we did find it left in a rather critical state which required extensive cleaning. Unfortunately, this meant the room was not available for sale for several days. This significantly complicated the efforts of our housekeeping team.
