Best thing about hotel is the proximity to the tram and railway and the reception and restaurant staff who were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was fine. I booked out of town specifically for the pool but there is no previous information given that the changing area is mixed so one experience of this was definitely enough. Far too small, floor flooded with water and very slippy together with some mud from shoes. Many more men than women. Not a comfortable nor safe space for women to shower and change. Accor should address this quickly. Other smaller but niggly issues concern the room bathroom door, cheap sink, useless tap and shower screen which didn’t hold water. How many people complained in the past about having a proper door on the bathroom that they needed to replace it with a cheap flimsy translucent one? Also how many customers quietly disappearing without complaining about hotels allowing dogs in? Could be a great hotel if they could just get the basics right. Need to make designers and customers try out their design choices before implementing. For these reasons, sadly would not return nor recommend.

Dear Anne, We are sorry to hear that this stay was so disappointing to you, that you felt that we deserved such a low score overall. I understand the reasons why you felt uncomfortable. Besides having the main changing room area, we also have the accessible one which is individual - this could have been an option to consider if you felt uncomfortable with the shared space, but I believe you mentioned that they were occupied. I can see, from the rest of your review, that your issues with the hotel go beyond the smaller things that we could help with more easily, and cover aspects such as design of our rooms and facilities and the nature of our services (such as allowing pets in the hotel). I will, of course, share you feedback with our Executive Management team for them to review. All I can do from my side now is to assure you that we meet all the requirements and standards from the Accor brand to be one of the most visited properties in Edinburgh - we take the safety and wellbeing of our guests extremely seriously, and I am sorry that we let you down. We understand the reasons why you do not want to return, and we hope that this might change in the future, but regardless of that, we would like to thank you again for your feedback and wish you the best. Very happy with my stay at Novotel Edinburgh park, less than 5 mins to the tram which gets you into central Edinburgh in 15 mins super easy and a fraction of the price of staying in town. I quite enjoyed the quieter out of town vibes. The swimming pool and spa is a great addition and some really nice touches which made the stay special - like the coffee machine. Only slight criticism is the bar closed before 10pm and the reception was quite slow on check out. Also if you're parking there's a charge (although heavily discounted).

The accessible room lacks space to manoeuvre and my husband's chair only just fitted between the bed & furniture. The bathroom is small and the shower has a sloped lip which impeded our equipment. We weren't able to stay.

The accessible rooms in this hotel comply with the regulations regarding accessibility at the time the hotel was built. This was a number of years ago, and since then the regulation has changed. The hotel will be required to comply to the new regulation once a general refurbishment takes place. We understand that the inconveniences that you experienced were frustrating and that you were looking forward to staying. Please accept our apologies again. The staff were really lovely and couldn’t fault their kindness. The room however, the bathroom flooded everytime we used the shower which completely wet through items we had in the bathroom as we weren’t expecting the water to go over the lip and completely flood the floor which took quite a few towels and unfortunately clothing items to mop up. Also for an accessible room only having 1 plug is not ok and really not helpful for anyone with a disability. We were shocked to only see 1 plug next to the left side of the bed and no other plugs! This meant we had to keep switching things out, i was trying to charge a medical advice and then i needed something else medical plugged in. In most hotels you atleast have 2 minimum in some 4 and above. For such a beautiful high end hotel it was shocking to only have 1. Apart from those things the hotel itself is very quiet considering where its placed, it was a comfortable stay and the facilities such as pool and sauna are gorgeous which we thoroughly enjoyed. Really thankful about the disabled parking and thankfully to the staff who helped my girlfriend now Fiancee create a beautiful room for when we came back from Edinburgh on our engagement day!
