ibis budget Marseille Vitrolles 2 stars

The hotel is nearby the airport, shopping, gas station and the highway exit. It is a perfect location to spend the night before an early morning departure. Friendly staff, clean rooms and comfortable bed make this a first choice for convenience for the budget minded traveler.

We had thought this Ibis was included in the airport shuttle, but it wasn't. Consequently, after one taxi driver ripped us off by taking us to the airport Ibis budget, then the extremely kind manager at that Ibis budget took us to the Ibis budget at Vitrolles. The staff at this Ibis budget had no idea whether the two local buses outside the hotel went to the airport, though one member of staff suggested getting a bus to Vitrolles and another from there, which we did. Staff suggested two buses as the best way to get to Marseille. We tried this, but realised that one of them went right past the hotel. So on the way back we got the fast bus, got off at the first stop and walked 10 minutes back to the hotel. It took half the time. Strange that the staff didn't suggest it. I guess they're only geared up for people who have their own cars.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. Consistently the rooms have been clean and comfortable. The WiFi and parking is great. All the staff encountered were very pleasant.

On day one the credit card machine not working, the air conditioning blew up and lift facilities reduced another customer to tears as she could not get her case downstairs and waited 30 minutes. The staff are very nice but having to cope with inadequate facilities

A friendly greeting was the best part of our stay. The room was no smoking but smelled like someone had smoked in it for years. Mould in the bathroom, rough sheets, hard beds, and tired and broken furniture. I would highly recommend you only stay here if you have no other choice. The staff was very helpful but the rooms are not worth the low price.
