No desk in room (and I dont care about room categories. ANY cheaper hotel has a desk in the room), thin damaged towels, staff is banging doors all day, no caution for sleeping guests, staff entering room twice even with do not disturb sign on. These are all absolute basic things and I am shocked this goes wrong in a Novotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much! The hotel is conveniently located very close to a U-Bahn station. The facilities are well maintained and clean. The room was spotless and in very good condition. The only downside to the location: If you need a quiet night because you want to sleep with open windows, make sure you don´t have a room towards the main street - the street noise is unbearable during the night without ear plugs for light sleepers. The breakfast really is amazing - I am convinced you would find it difficult to identify something that's missing on the buffet. On Saturday, we unfortunately hit the ¨rush hour¨ during breakfast and had a little waiting time as the breakfast area was packed, but the staff handled the situation highly professional and was super friendly. We'd definitely choose this hotel again during our next stay in Hamburg!

I demand an immediate investigation into the criminal and unethical conduct of the management at Novotel Hamburg City Alster regarding the events of April 28, 2026. 1. Fraudulent Deception & hidden charges My guests were intentionally misled and placed on a breakfast "guest list" without prior notification of fees. Under German Consumer Law (§ 305c BGB), hidden "surprise clauses" are legally void. This was a clear act of fraudulent deception to extract unauthorized payment. 2. Unauthorized Financial Manipulation (Visa Gold) I authorized a specific transaction of 1,190.70 EUR via SMS-TAN security. The hotel bypasses international security protocols and EU PSD2 regulations by manually charging my Visa Gold card 1,220.40 EUR. This constitutes financial fraud. 3. Criminal Coercion and Deprivation of Liberty (§ 240 / § 239 StGB) The management at Novotel Hamburg City Alster physically detained my guests to extract further payment. Despite my direct contact with the manager via WhatsApp—communicating fluently in German—and explicitly stating no further payments were authorized, the hotel held my guests as "financial hostages." They were threatened with police intervention and missing their flight unless an additional 300 EUR was paid under duress. 4. Endangerment of a Minor (11 Years Old) Most distressingly, one of the guests detained was an 11-year-old child. The psychological trauma of being physically prevented from leaving and being threatened has caused her ongoing nervous distress. In Germany, the coercion and detention of a minor is an aggravating factor that significantly increases the legal liability of your staff. 5. Legal & Regulatory Actions Taken I have already initiated the following: Full Chargeback: A claim for 1,520.40 EUR (1,220.40 + 300) has been filed with TBC Bank for "Transaction under Duress." Criminal Report: A formal report is being filed with the Hamburg Police (Onlinewache) for extortion, coercion, and deprivation of liberty. Regulatory Escalation: Notifications are being sent to Handelskammer Hamburg and DEHOGA. 6. Public Disclosure Warning I am the founder and administrator of 'Cheap Travel Georgia', the largest travel community in Georgia with over 404,000 active members. If this matter is not resolved with a full refund of the unauthorized amounts and a formal apology within 24 hours, I will publish a detailed report of this criminal incident to my entire audience. This will include a formal warning against staying at Novotel Hamburg City Alster or any Accor properties, supported by the police reports and evidence of financial manipulation. I expect an immediate response from a senior executive.
