Good stay and convenient room

The room is nice and the breakfast is beyond my expectation for European standard of 4 stars hotel. The location is little bit outside the city center, but metro station is right exactly beside the hotel.

I really enjoyed the hotel room and the service from front desk. Unfortunately the experience in the restaurant was terrible. The way how the server treated other employees and gas was an inacceptable to me. I provided feedback on the to the front desk. Maybe something you can follow up on

Extremely full. Breakfast has to be rushed because of breakfast shifts. Rooms were not ready at time of arrival. (Multiple hours later). They call something the "fitness room". It has 3 cardio machines. 1 of them faulty. No fitness to find here. Parking extremely expensive.

The access to the breakfast was denied to me as I don't have the FFp2 mask with me. Most of the Hotel employees were using the blue medical face mask as myself, and even when I mentioned this to them they neglected the access to me. I was forced to buy an FFp2 mask at the reception just to have breakfast. On the other hand, I ask for a double bed and I got to single beds, something I was not expecting at all. There were no tissue papers in the bathroom and also I was missing hand soup. The location is good, close to different restaurants in the nearby and the transport connections are very close.

It`s the regulation in Hamburg, that the Hotel Guests have to wear FFP2 masks. Hamburg is ob of the last City in Germany, where you`ve the rule with the masks. We`ve no other choice, because this are the rules. Also says it, that the employees are wearing just a medical face mask, because they`ve to work 8 hours with it. You can read everything in the corona regulation from Hamburg and also on all our booking sites. So we just did, what we`ve to. I know that doesn´t help you anymore, but I wanted to explain the situation so that you understand a little better. Please accept my sincerely apologies for the misunderstanding and hope the rest of your stay was to your full expectations. Superior double room with a sofa bed. The sofa bed was very hard and not too comfortable. The pillows were fine. Very disappointed with the view in the room, as the window was towards the back yard (grey concrete). The breakfast was fine, but we had to wait in line about 15 minutes in the morning because the hotel was fully booked.

Have stayed at this property many times now this was my first in two years due to very ill health plus Covid.Everything was as I remembered it a welcoming place apart from a very rude male staff member in the breakfast area we sat by the sofas just wanting a coffee nobody came to us so my husband went to ask a male staff member at the breakfast area he spoke very abrupt asking our room number and telling the cost and we need to get it ourselves from the machine. We started to line up to get the coffee but he continued to observe this made me feel very uncomfortable so I decided I no longer wanted to bother with having coffee.We walked away then another male staff member approached us he started to speak to us then the previous staff member spoke to him so he left us we then told him we no longer wanted coffee he still carried on with his rude attitude.Sadly I did not get his name. Made to feel embarrassed I could not wait to get out of the building that morning.

Had a wonderful stay for 3 nights at Novotel City Alster. The suite was big and clean and everything worked. Breakfast had large variations to pick from and all from the staff was friendly. The hotel have undergrund parking for cars and is located next to u- bahn station so it is so easy to go around in Hamburg from the hotel.

Overall let's call it hardly OKAY, otherwise we would have turned and moved away. Obviously newly refurbished hotel, but then why remove writing desks and working place in the rooms in such a business hotels mid Hamburg? What are you going to take out next for savings: Beds or Shower ?? Freezing cold reception and bar area because of a badly located swing door airlock. No more than max 1/2 hour forced pleasure: Up the creek for a poor and unlucky staff. Dinner at the restaurant: Forget it !.Breakfast for 21 € is largely overprized and a harsh booking trap. Be careful out there Accor and Novotel, there are other players that are doing very well.
