Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff, good location next to underground station. One complaint, every room should have an iron & ironing board. Apart from that I cant fault it.

Our stay was okay but it didn't meet our expectations.

When we decided to book a hotel in Hamburg, we looked at the Mövenpick in Hamburg and at Novotel and then decided to book at Novotel Hamburg Alster City. Our stay was okay but as a gold member I expected a better situation. We had the feeling that the staff were not well informed about the Accor program as we got conflicting messages. Some of the reception staff didn't seem in a good mood but it can be a language issue. As a gold Accor member, we were upgraded to superior rooms but we noticed that one of the rooms was smelling of cigarettes. We complained about the smell and our room was changed. In the new room we had to call the reception frequently to ask for a refill of the mini bar, something that should have been done automatically. Saying that, I would like to mention that the room service staff were friendly and always quick to react. Following our stay at the hotel I sent the same email three times inquiring about a certain logistic related to my stay and until now I haven't received a reply to my email. I think it is not appropriate that customer emails get neglected.
