Friendly, efficient welcome!

We are touring Europe on a motorcycle and had spent the day riding in torrential rain. We were cold and tired. Arrived at an inner city hotel apartment only to find no access code, no staff and no way to contact them. Went online, booked into ibis budget Pau Est. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the receptionist. She worked weekends at the hotel. Within no time we were in our room, warm after a hot shower. Had a perfect steak and beer at a local bistro and everything was good in the world. Room was exactly what we needed. We stayed an extra day!

The lack of a human being at the reception was disappointing. Accor is a strong enough brand that one would imagine they would be able to afford adequately staffing the hotel. Being greated by the automat at the front door is less than adequate. Now, perhaps this is what should be expected from The Budget level of Ibis hotels, in which case I am wrong to complain, otherwise, having someone staff the reception at least during business hours would be tremendously welcome and helpful. Also, having to pay 50 cents per minute for the privilege to make a reservation over the phone is nothing short of a joke. The reservation should take 2 minutes maximum to make and it took 7.5 minutes for the reservation to be made, it's a scam.
