My detailed reviews on Trip Advisor, both about the hotel and about the Kafka restaurant, show exactly how I see the unit. My major disappointment replies on the complete absence of recognition or any special, selected treatment whatsoever for a Diamond member. In other hotels in the world I get pampered to the bone, here I felt like someone who had booked a cheap rate by Trivago - and that despite me paying for the expensive "romantic package". The Soviet mentality is unfortunately clearly there, just like many guests report on Trip Advisor: cold, distanced, the typical "I couldn't care less" attitude of the Eastern Block. No wonder the Brazilian girls in the restaurant shine bright with their natural kindness and genuine smiles to all guests, as opposed to the grumpy face even from receptionists. It is also most frustrating that reception and concierge don't know what the benefits of a category or the products of the hotel are: that's lack of training and the typical carelessness of the Soviet time. I felt particularly upset at three occasions, the first one with not being allocated in the suite, what I ALWAYS get in ALL and ANY hotel because of my status without ANY question! The 2nd incident was regarding water, in which a receptionist almost rudely clashed with me refusing to refill bottles of water we had without a problem in the previous days. And lastly at check-out, when we were charged for chocolate and nuts in the minibar. We were clearly informed that ALL minibar items, EXCEPT for Red Bull would be included in the rate and would be refilled daily. And the peanuts were on the table together with the coated nuts. Being charged for the two items at check-out was rather insulting, but I preferred not to escalate the case, since we needed to get to the airport. More than just vague apologies, I expect a concrete and generous gesture and prefer it comes in form of STATUS points, NOT as reward points. The general manager, instead of writing "copy-and-paste" detached replies on Trip Advisor, should reach me per mail with full grip of what to be done towards me as an unsatisfied Diamond guest. The hotel is by no means a bad one, but the staff attitude can ruin an excellent stay, and that's on the GM's account!
