There was highly unprofessional behaviour of your reception team during my check-in on Tuesday 28 July. I arrived at the reception desk at 14:40 to check in. A staff member named Samara requested my identification, which I provided. She informed me that my room was not yet ready and instructed me to take a seat, promising she would follow up with me directly once it was available.While I was waiting, the front desk environment became increasingly unprofessional: 1. Neglected Service: Samara failed to follow up on the status of my room. After waiting for 25 minutes without updates or acknowledgement, I had to approach the desk again myself. Another staff member then informed me the room was ready. 2. Distracted Staff: While guests were waiting, Samara and three other reception staff members spent time joking loudly about the property's key card system malfunctioning. 3. Inappropriate Workplace Behaviour: The behaviour escalated when a shorter female staff member arrived for her shift. Samara and four other employees, including a blonde woman who appeared to be the Duty Manager, began loudly mocking the new staff member's height. They openly joked about whether she could see over the counter, and the manager proceeded to take photos of her in a mocking manner. This distressing behaviour was loud enough to echo throughout the entire foyer. Watching a management figure actively participate in mocking a colleague, all while paying guests were left waiting and ignored, is completely unacceptable. While the second staff member completed the final steps of my check-in efficiently, the overall experience demonstrated a severe lack of training, hospitality standards and basic respect. I chose Novotel expecting a professional standard of service, which was completely absent during this interaction. I request that this matter be investigated and I look forward to hearing how your management team intends to address this behaviour and prevent it from happening to future guests.
