Dear Hotel Management, I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding the standard of service and accommodation we received during our stay. Unfortunately, a number of issues significantly affected our experience and, taken together, meant that the standard we reasonably expected from the hotel was not provided. Firstly, our room was not serviced at any point during our stay. The room was therefore not cleaned or refreshed, and the bedding was not dressed or changed. This was particularly disappointing given the length of our stay and the standard of service we would reasonably expect from a hotel. In addition, our towels were not replaced during the stay. On both occasions, we had to contact the hotel ourselves to request fresh towels, and we were then required to go downstairs and collect them ourselves rather than having them delivered to the room. This was not the level of housekeeping service we expected. We were also allocated an accessible room despite not requiring one. This created a practical problem with the bathroom, as the accessible shower arrangement resulted in the bathroom floor becoming significantly soaked every time the shower was used. While I appreciate that accessible rooms are designed for particular requirements, this room was not appropriate for our stay and the bathroom arrangement caused considerable inconvenience. There was also an issue with the air conditioning. The room’s air-conditioning system indicated that it could cool the room to 17°C. In reality, the room remained significantly warmer throughout our stay and the system did not appear capable of achieving anything close to the temperature displayed. Given the conditions during our stay, this made the room particularly uncomfortable. I appreciate that individual issues can sometimes occur during a hotel stay. However, in this case, the combination of the lack of housekeeping, failure to replace towels without repeated requests, having to collect towels ourselves, the unsuitable room allocation and the ineffective air conditioning resulted in a materially poorer experience than we should reasonably have received. I would appreciate this being reviewed by hotel management and would be grateful to hear what the hotel feels would be an appropriate resolution in light of the issues we experienced. The room was spacious and ideally located in the city center, with everything within short walking distance. However, no fridge was provided in the room, and during our stay, the country was experiencing a severe heatwave, drought, and power crisis, which meant the air conditioning functioned more like a basic fan. While the weather conditions weren't the hotel's fault, these issues made the stay quite uncomfortable. I would return, but I’d definitely choose a different time of year to visit.

I didn't really like the way the receptionists treated me. I booked a different room type on Booking.com, and when I complained, I was told it was a translation error (which is certainly not the customer's fault) and that there was nothing that could be done about it. The receptionists even laughed and wondered why I was bringing it up. The air conditioner was also very loud, so I couldn't leave it on at night.
