Broken air con, room full of spiders

The air con wasn’t working and it was really hot. We stayed here at the start and the end of our holiday with a trip to Brussels in between. The night we returned was the worst night, although the bedding had been changed and the room was turned around no one had cleaned the window which was home to quite a few large spiders. They were running across the ceiling all night and making webs. So I didn’t sleep. I spoke to the man on reception and he was very rude, I mentioned that we had an accor group membership and he said he didn’t know what that was. I was hoping he might move us to a partner hotel. It was an awful room, opposite a really dirty emegency exit stairwell. There was a razor in the shower from the person who stayed before us. There was shampoo in the handwash holder. We know it’s cheap, but the spider’s were unacceptable.

Good value room, in great location for train station in Charleroi. No thrills and spills but does what it says on the can

Well located, good breakfast, acceptable room. Two things to signal for improvement: 1 - The air-conditioning didn't work well. It was too hot in the room, and I was not able to bring the temperature down. Air was coming out of it, but not really cold. The next day, the ladies making up the rooms were also saying that all the hotel was too hot, and it was hard to work under such conditions. 2 - The sliding door of the parking didn't work well. We were two cars waiting to enter, and the door got stuck a number of times. It took us 5 minutes to finally enter the parking lot.

The only advantage of this hotel is its location. Otherwise, although smoking is not allowed on the premises we were inhaling cigarettes fume the whole night through our room door. Were the smoke alarm detectors working? I doubt it. We have been to many of Ibis hotels but IBIS Charleroi is dated and the worst! Marlene
