Overall stay was good. Hotel was in a good location, rooms were clean and well kept. Our only issue was when our AC unit smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and the entire hallway also smelled, we suspected someone was smoking in their room. We made a staff member aware of this. Thankfully the smell was gone by the following afternoon.

I had a last minute flight cancellation in Berlin Bradenburg airport and Meininger hotel was one of the closest places I could stay at. I arrived there very late at night but was able to book a room very easily at the reception desk in under 5 minutes! Room is very clean, has AC, and windows for lighting and fresh air that are right next to the couch, which makes it perfect. bed is super comfortable, and there’s plenty of space to store clothes or other items

I chose Mercure Berlin Tempelhof because I am an ALL – Accor Live Limitless member and have always had excellent experiences at other Accor hotels, including Novotel, Ibis and Adagio. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet my expectations. The room was clean, the bed linen was of good quality, and the bed was comfortable, although one of the two pillows was very flat. The hotel is located in a quieter area of Berlin, a bit far from the main attractions, but with a metro station nearby, making it easy to reach the city centre. The main disappointment was the service. My reservation total was around €972, but I was repeatedly asked to pay more than €1,220. It took almost two days to correct the bill. There was also confusion regarding my 15-year-old son's breakfast. As an ALL member, this benefit is clearly included in my booking, yet the staff did not seem to know it. On our first breakfast, while we were still eating, a member of staff came into the restaurant and insisted that I had to pay. I explained that I would go to reception after breakfast, once they had checked my reservation, but the situation made us feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. Another unpleasant moment happened after check-out. We had left our luggage at reception and returned later to collect it. Before leaving, my husband and daughter went to use the restroom, and an employee actually ran after them to say that the toilets were only for guests with a room key. We had checked out only a short time before and had simply left our luggage with the hotel. It was not a pleasant way to treat departing guests. The reception staff were polite and willing to help, but they were unfamiliar with the ALL benefits and the procedures were unnecessarily slow. I also had a larger amount pre-authorised on my credit card without any explanation beforehand; I only found out through a notification from my bank. I paid significantly more than I usually budget for accommodation because I expected a higher level of service from Mercure. Based on my previous experiences, I honestly expected Mercure to offer an even better experience than Novotel. Sadly, that was not the case. The hotel itself is comfortable, but the overall guest experience was overshadowed by repeated billing issues, lack of knowledge about the Accor loyalty programme, and interactions that made us feel more distrusted than welcomed.

We would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the billing issue and the delay in correcting the amount. We understand that this caused unnecessary frustration during your stay and did not reflect the level of service you should expect from us. Regarding the breakfast situation, we would like to provide a clarification. You are absolutely right that the breakfast for your son was included in your booked Family Rate. This rate included breakfast for your child, and this should have been correctly recognized and handled by our team. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and, in particular, that this matter was not resolved in a discreet and professional manner while you were having breakfast. At the same time, we would like to clarify that this benefit was based on your booked rate and was independent of your ALL Accor Live Limitless membership status. The ALL Silver status itself does not include complimentary breakfast. Furthermore, family benefits and breakfast policies may vary between the different Accor brands. For example, Novotel has different family arrangements, under which children up to and including 15 years old may receive complimentary breakfast under certain conditions. At Mercure, children up to and including 12 years old receive complimentary breakfast. In your case, however, the breakfast for your son was included due to the Family Rate you had booked and not due to your ALL Silver status. We understand that your previous positive experiences at various Accor brands may have contributed to different expectations. It is therefore even more important that our team is fully familiar with the different brand policies, rate conditions, and ALL program benefits in order to provide accurate information and a seamless guest experience. We will use your feedback as an opportunity to further review these points with our team. We also regret the situation that occurred after your check-out. Naturally, we want our guests to feel welcome until the very end of their stay. The misunderstanding that occurred and the impression that you were no longer welcome do not reflect our standards of hospitality. We will discuss this matter internally with our team. We also take your comment regarding the credit card pre-authorization seriously. While this is a standard procedure, we acknowledge that we should have explained this process more transparently in advance. Thank you again for your honest feedback. Your comments help us continuously improve our procedures and service quality. Staff were friendly but facility is old, shabby and there is a big problem with noise disturbance in the room: in the wind, the external blinds bang against the frames. This happened every night.
