Good stay, have been here before. Had to push really hard for a ground floor room, even though not full. Eventually reception gave us what we wanted but shame it was a challenge to achieve.

When we need an hotel for a night or two we nearly always book an Ibis simply because we know exactly what to expect and they almost invariably meet those expectations. The room was clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay, the restaurant was reasonably priced and the food good and the staff helpful and willing to switch to English when my French proved not good enough. Two issues were that despite the freezing temperatures the heater in the room had been switched off and it was not easy to switch it back on, and the pillows were 99.9% air and squashed flat at the slightest touch. The first issue should surely have been picked up by housekeeping since walking into the room was like walking into a fridge, and the pillows are in serious need of replacement.

It is always a satisfactory experience to arrive from the Portsmouth - Caen ferry after a 40-minute drive late in the evening, enjoy a comfortable night in Ibis Falaise and a good breakfast (but restricted choice during covid), and then set off for the long drive to our residence secondaire in the Cantal

A good, solid, well run budget hotel ideal for our requirement of a stop over en route to mid France. A very quiet location which was quite surprising. Efficient check in having done so online earlier. A clean well equipped bedroom with none of the minor breakages of equipment often found. I note some negative comments previously over the standard of breakfast but I found it well up to expectations compared to other establishments we have stayed in before. The only area in which I feel the quality of our stay could have been improved is in the timing of breakfast. In 50 years of worldwide travel using thousands of hotels I have never experienced one where breakfast was advertised as finishing at 0800! I can understand the commencement at 0430 being useful for people with commercial requirements but for those with leisure requirements including ourselves the 0800 restaurant closure is a major consideration when deciding whether to use this otherwise satisfactory hotel again. This is the only reason for restricting this hotel to 8/10.

We have stayed at many IBIS hotels over the years but were very disappointed overall with this stay. There were a couple of very good points - which were the very comfortable bed and clean room, and also the very welcoming receptionist on duty the evening we arrived. Disappointing however were the following - the lack of quality of surroundings eg a door handle on the stairs was loose and about to fall off - no one repaired it during our stay even though it was reported; The food in the restaurant was unimaginative and not well presented: the staff member on duty in the morning hardly said a word to us, even though we speak french - no interaction or welcome or explanation of what was available at breakfast. Overall rather inconsistent quality and in customer service. The chairs in the dining room were very uncomfortable and cut into the back - if you were a litttle overweight (which we are not) you would not have fitted the highly curved back.

Good all-round and dependable service. Only two comments, the carpets in the corridors are stained. Main concern, purely personal is my dislike of tattoos, I find them offensive, especially on those serving the public. When I lived and worked in Australia, there was a dress code of NO VISIBLE TATTOOS IN THE OFFICE. There are staff at this hotels showing off their tattoos, their presence puts me off my food. Please adopt an Australian dress code, and keep them covered up.

I like this hotel... I stay there every time I'm in Falaise. However last week I complained as my steak was cold! I would like to see more variety in the food menu otherwise its fine for me. the staff are good and they help me with my French with I appreciate. Happy to stay there on my regular visits to France
