very pleasant stay. The hotel is located in a business area close to main roads which makes it very suitable for the travelling businessmen than for a longer stay as a tourist.

Although potentially good, modern hotel, our stay was spoilt by lack of attention to detail/lots of small failingas. Some examples: gate of locked parking not working, room safe not working, shaving mirrir hanging loose, basin plug bathroom broken, waste bin lid broken, tv cables hanging loose. Restaurant perhaps under construction, but very brightly lit, no atmosphere and several ingredients missing in the (already limited) menu choice. Some staff disinterested, fortunately some others had the right customer focus. Disappointing for a Mercure/ this price.

Booked one night, half pension. Baby bed was available, but partly broke… Dinner was awful, just awful! As starter I got cold spaghetti with pesto, when I told the waitress it was cold, the reply was ‘that is how it should be’. Yeah right, lived in Italy 1.5 years, this is not right! Main was a fish brochette, placed on three leaves of salad. Plain, no taste, and not enough. Just sad… For dessert a brick of cold chocolate brownie, ok but nothing more. Breakfast was ok, served (as with dinner) in the cold and unpleasant meeting room as the restaurant was being renovated. When checking out, an additional €10 was charged without reason. Told the guy at the lobby, who wasn’t capable of depositing it back.

Well located hotel off the Autoroute to Calais. Well organised for a safe stay in these Covid times. Good meals served in the room.

We chose the Mercure Compiegne Sud because we needed secure parking for a large vehicle on our way back to the UK and a hotel with a restaurant so we did not have to go out and find one. The hotel was in a quiet location and our room very clean and comfortable. They only seem to provide towels for one person as standard so, if you are two, you need to ask. The staff were helpful and we ate on their outside terrace and decided to order a bottle of Provence rose with our meal, as it was a hot, sunny evening. We were shown a menu (understandably limited due to the corona virus situation) but not shown a wine list and were very shocked when we were charged 40 euros for the rose which, from past experience, should have cost nearer 20 euros. The outside terrace was definitely in need of a face-lift with tired, grey plastic tables and chairs and planters with dead plants but guess it has been neglected during lock-down and there are now only limited staff so it's not a priority.

Dear Monsieur Arnaud, Sorry for writing in English, but my French is not good enough to detail my comments sufficiently in French. But I guess, also the English version should get the point across. First of all I like the Mercure Hotel in Compiegne. The hotel is well located, provides parking, breakfast is good, rooms are quiet and the beds are excellent (I like hard mattresses). The rooms are clean and the staff is polite and helpful. But one issue I don't like. The rooms are very warm, at least the one I was in (Room 139 if I remember correctly). Despite I even started the air conditioning instead of the heater the room didn't cool off at all. At least the temperature stayed above a comfortable sleeping temperature. And with the roof directly in front of my window I didn't want to leave the window open all night. But what confused me the most, was the fact, that when I wanted to check out, the front desk hostess wanted to charge my personal credit card. The reservation was made via the company's booking portal As the payment type the company virtual credit card was confirmed. After a longer discussion we left with the clerk's promise to clarify the issue afterwards. When I checked my e-mail the next day I was very surprised to find an invoice in my mail inbox. Now I am wondering how we ensure that the next time the room charge is truly directly billed to the company credit card. Thank you for your comment. Cordialement Josef R.

I am sorry that the reputation of the Mercure Compiègne sud hotel has been degraded in your eyes following the billing problem mentioned, I would however like to tell you that the payment for the room was made using the virtual credit card number which was given by your booking tool. I keep these elements at your disposal if you need them, In addition it is normal in our procedures to take your own bank imprint because the extra rooms are not supported by your company. I've been in many Mercure hotels and do far this is the best one: cozy place, kind people always looking to make your stay pleasant and to close the circle, a good breakfast. Great place to stay, and close to a marvelous town.

We were greeted with a very hospitable welcome. The room was very comfortable room and quiet, just what was needed for a good night's rest. Breakfast was most enjoyable enough to set you up for a busy day. The wifi works and is fast. For a business trip what more do you want?

Convenient stop over when travelling from or to the channel not getting to near to Paris, easy to find, free secure parking. Just on the outskirts of the town. Reception dealt with all our requests in a very polite manner.

Nice quiet hotel in a convenient location. Hotel staff were excellent and helped us out a lot. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent with a nice choice of good food. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Our only dislikes were the hard beds and hard pillows.

We stayed at this hotel because it was very easy to visit nearby family and to go into Paris. The staff are lovely, very attentive and friendly. The breakfast was very enjoyable and the parking was secure.
