Bed Bugs in the room Terrible staff and manager

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

GrandTour35496459966 TripAdvisor review

Terrible Hotel!! Bed bugs in the room, terrible reception staff and manager! I am disheartened to write this bad review on a hotel but this is the worst experience I've had. We stayed for 7 nights. Because of my platinum membership we were allowed to check in early, which is good. After a few hours, I discovered some bed bugs crawling on the beds. I immediately called reception to report it and demand to have a different room. The receptionist asked me to come down to reception, upon arrival at the reception, she just told me to go back to the room and wait for the housekeeping team to come and check it. She told me they are fully booked and they don't have anotger room and had to talk to the manager if we will switch room. No apologies, she was acting like I was just making stories. And I wonder why she had to ask me to go to reception when all she had to say is for me to go back and wait for the housekeeping team. I then went back to the room and waited, the house keeping team arrived and confirmed the bed bugs. While they were at the room, she was on the phone with the receptionist and passed me the phone as the receptionist wanted to talk to me. The receptionist asked me to go down again so she can give me key card for another room. And so I went down and when I approached the receptionist, she asked me to go back again to the room and wait there because she will need to talk to the manager for the room change. This is where I already complained and told her that I was working in the room and I have upcoming meetings and I cannot keep on coming back and forth. She then went inside the office and when she returned, she was able to assign a new room on the same floor. No apologies. We just moved to the new room by ourselves without any help offered by the staff. We stayed for 7 nights. On our check out date we requested for our luggage to be stored since we'll be checking in again after 2 days. They refused as they can only keep luggage for a day and pointed us to Ibis hotel next door who is doing storage services. That is fine, but I asked to talk to the manager because I want to inform him of the bedbugs situation and the terrible service we received. When the manager approached us he said first that they cannot keep the luggage as it is French government regulation, but when I told him about the bed bugs in the room and that we didn't even receive any apologies, he just said "OK" and walked off. I guess now we know why the staff had very poor customer service. They are being managed by this type of manager. Really dissapointing stay! I immediately cancelled my upcoming booking in the same hotel and just booked Ibis hotel next door which have better service. You will really see and feel the huge contrast in customer service of Ibis' receptionist vs Mercure's receptionist. Ibis are very warm, welcoming and polite. Mercure's receptionist are cold, nonchalant and rude. Stay away from this hotel!

Our room was spotless, comfortable, well appointed and well decorated had an amazing view of the Eifle tower. Lovely touch from the hotel to leave us chocolates and gifts and a lovely note wishing us a happy anniversary which set the tone for a lovely stay and meant alot to my wife and I. We we walked from here to the arc de triomphe, the Eifle tower, The Louvre and Sacre coeur. Its minutes from the Moulin Rouge and Montmartre Village and the lovely restaurants, bars and cafes this area has to offer. Although we walked lots there are really good travel links via the metro and nearby bus stations and an Uber to Gard de Nord Train station (Eurostar) was approx 13 Euros and about 15 to 20 mins. The really Parisian experience rather than the tourist trap further down the hill. We will defiantly return thank you for a wonderful stay. My only slight and it is an ever so slight issue was there are no English tv channels which is fine as we were in France. However the mirrorcast feature of the tv was disabled which is something tat is usually readily available in most hotels now, especially in a premium room, the ability to watch a little tv would have been a nice option, but didn't detract form the being a lovely stay.

We enjoyed everything about this hotel especially the helpfulness of all the staff. The superior twin room was of a good size and had everything you could need including safe and fridge. The beds were extremely comfortable. The internet connection was super fast to allow streaming. Any comments about breakfast I may have read proved to be completely false. There were plenty of staff restocking food and clearing tables and the choice of food was superb. The hotel is located a stone's throw away from the Place De Clichy métro station and the Moulin Rouge is basically just round the corner. We would recommend staying here.

Staff were great and room was fine. It wasn’t cleaned one day, but that’s was our only problem. Breakfast choice good.
