Rooms are standard in size, look is modern and pleasant. Balconies are pointlessly small, but they mean you have floor to ceiling windows compared to other rooms, making the most of the closeness to the sea and fab view. Restaurants - we only ate in the Novotel restaurant once in the evening and despite some friendly staff, service was slow and haphazard (needing to ask for cutlery when second course was served and other basics points, after they'd walked off). We didn't eat in Potj in the ibis side, as grumpy staff said unless we had booked there was no availability. The food itself was mediocre for the venue and price. Potatoes with the steak were firm and unedible. The fish was bland. The food gras was actually just pate. For children, usual chicken tenders, spaghetti Bolognese or fish n chips. Nine of us wanted to eat here again as service was so slow, and the air con was unable to cope making it uncomfortable to sit there. It wasn't particularly hot, 23C days. The sun comes in that side of the building, so maybe it has the wrong glass installed. Maybe windows can't open either - a simple few steps out to the front of the building in the evening and it was lovely and cool outside. Just needs some airflow inside. Consequently, we brought takeaways into the room, not what I had wanted for this final few days of a two weeks trip. Pool - this is great, can get busy at certain times, but worked well for us with two children, less so if you want to do lengths although they do have a lane roped off for that. Changing rooms don't have a bathing costume dryer/spinning machine which surprised us for a 4*. Private beach - this was ok as you have space with loungers above the main public beach. Loungers are cheap plastic ones however, again not acceptable for 4*. Main beach never gets overly busy until high tide, but that doesn't last long. This is the greatest asset, such a vast beach full of kite surfers, land sailing, families, all able to make use of the huge space. Air con - it is average. As me mentioned, our stay the temperature outside was around 23C, and the sea facing rooms didn't cool down until around midnight with sunset at 9.30pm in August. In a heatwave this would be poor. Again, the solar gain through the windows is too great for the air con to compensate. Parking - barriered access car park works well, using room key to get in and out. Upgrades - we had already booked the balcony room, but other hadn't and were given these as a free upgrade. I questioned this on check out but no discount was given! Families - as rooms are relatively small, only 2 adults and 1 child are allowed in a room on a double bed and sofa bed. So for our family of two adults and two children, we had to pay for two rooms. Unacceptable in this day and age. We'd stayed at 3 other hotels this holiday, all with two king beds in a room so we all could fit in one. Overall - you're paying for the view and being on the beach. You can't beat watching the sun going down over the sea, the paragliders buzzing by your window and the ever changing view. All other hotels are in the town centre. We had one v windy day, so you can see why they're there with the prevailing westerly wind as they are then sheltered! We may consider again in future, but only if considerably discounted (and this was 25% off as a summer deal, yet still seemed overpriced)
