The Novotel Thalassa at Le Touquet is one of our 'go-to' hotels for a short relaxing break. Although the restaurant in the hotel is very good, the hotel is ideally placed for our favourite restaurant (Coté Sud). Very convenient for a brisk walk along the beach to the main town, and with an excellent swimming pool, so there is no excuse not to take any exercise! Staff are efficient yet friendly on reception and in the bar and restaurant. The hotel is kept clean as the proverbial new pin by friendly chamber staff. What is there not to like?

Overall lovely - 3 things we'd mention, we tried to order flowers and ask for recommendations with the front desk - front desk took weeks to respond then v rude and no recommendations to share, odd to have bars shut at 10pm so we couldn't order drinks after dinner and the cleaning staff start v early and then keep knocking and rude when we're not ready to leave (one of the team he shook his head at me and slammed our door)

Our stay was a one night stopover visit so we may not have seen the hotel at its best. Our experience did not feel like one given to an Accor loyalty member which we get regularly at other hotels in the chain. Reception person was somewhat aloof and disinterested with multiple questions asked by us to figure out about restaurant and other onsite facilities available to guests. The hotel is a seaside hotel but we were given a room looking into the car park with no offer of a sea view room, even for an additional cost / free upgrade. The room was as far away as possible from the amenities at the hotel and on the ground floor so it felt like being in a cave. Breakfast was chaotic with insufficient staff to clear tables, shortages of food and plates, cold fried eggs and not the quality for such a hotel holding itself out as a Novotel standard.
On the positive side, the restaurant on the IBIS side of the building was very good with friendly staff and quality menu / food offering for dinner. Maybe we should have stayed on the IBIS side ! We won’t be going back even though we depart France from Boulogne Sur Mer in October and will seek an alternative stopover hotel. Definitely room for improvement in the service offering at this hotel !!

Booked a Suite, was okay but wouldn't bother with the extra room. No balcony off that room, it felt quite closed in. Stayed for 2 nights the cleaner came on but didn't make the bed just left it.

Sadly, a disappointing stay after really looking forward to visiting. We paid extra for a room with a view, only to be given a room overlooking a mound of sand and a fence. Which there were only 2 or 3 rooms of this type. The room also didn’t feel particularly clean, with sand across the floor, and it hadn’t been properly prepared for four guests — the children’s bed wasn’t made up and there were only towels, robes and slippers for two.
We raised the issues immediately and were told we could view alternative rooms the following morning, but when we returned to reception there seemed to be no record of this and we were then told we would have to pay extra to move.
The hotel itself is in a fantastic beachfront location and has lots of potential, which made the experience even more disappointing. As a travel agent, I had particularly hoped this might be somewhere I could recommend to clients looking for an easy break from the UK, but unfortunately our experience fell well below expectations.

The hotel experience was extremely poor. The Hotel felt tired and in many places it was not clean . The glass out to the beach was widely so dirty you couldn’t see out (the view in the most important aspect of the Hotel. Our expensive room was tiny with a cheap feel. It was dirty - on arrival we couldn’t see through the dirt on the windows out to the beach. The terrace was stained and looked dirty and uncared for. The finish was poor with splashes of paint on the walls and in May places cracked and flaking. Much of the glass looking out to the beach around the Hotel had become opaque from dirt.
In the restaurant the children’s menu largely comprised things containing very common allergens for kids. For example pasta with egg had been chosen and butter had been used to make the bolognaise. As a result my daughter could not eat anything on the menu. When I raised this with the waitress she pushed back saying egg in pasta was quite normal but suggested bolognaise with chips - my daughter chose plain chips - this was fortunate because we subsequently found out that the bolognaise contained butter and if she had eaten it it may have been a very serious anaphylactic event.
The lifeguards in the pool were often lost in their books and frequently absent.
The staff in reception were good but there were often queues and service was slow.
