We have enjoyed our stay in this modern newly built hotel. We were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Ia. Our standard room on the 7th floor with river view was nicely designed, clean and spacious. King bed was really big, though little bit too soft. Breakfast offered wide choice and tables were readily available even though the hotel was full. Executive lounge has nice terrace and its evening offer is good and with convenient timing. Though it gets really busy at the beginning of service. In terms of location, it is true, that it is away from the park, but there is Marriott shuttle available for Novotel guests. It starts at 10 a.m., so we used Uber to get to the park early before tour groups arrive and went back with Marrriott shuttle from Kintetsu station. Novotel shuttle goes to train station on the other side of the city only, so is convenient for departures, or arrival if scheduled accordingly. We arrived to nearby Shin Omiya station and it was easy walk even with suitcases.

During my recent journey through Japan, I had the pleasure of staying at Novotel Nara from 4–6 March, and it proved to be a thoughtfully designed retreat in one of Japan’s most historic cities. Originally reserving a Standard Room, I was delighted to receive an upgrade to a Standard Room with Bath located on a higher floor, offering a pleasant and open city view. The room itself reflects the contemporary comfort associated with the brand—well-planned, spacious, and quietly elegant, providing a calm sanctuary after a day spent exploring the cultural heritage of . What stood out throughout the stay was the hotel’s ability to blend modern international hospitality with the serene rhythm of Nara. Breakfast each morning was well curated, offering a satisfying combination of Japanese and international selections in a relaxed atmosphere. The Executive Lounge provided a comfortable and refined space to unwind, ideal for enjoying a quiet moment between excursions. A particular highlight of the property is its onsen, which offers a restorative experience after long walks through Nara’s historic streets and temple grounds. Complementing this wellness aspect is a well-equipped fitness center, suitable for guests who wish to maintain their exercise routine while traveling. Another thoughtful feature is the Relax Lounge, where guests may enjoy complimentary massage chairs—a small but highly appreciated luxury after a full day of exploration. While the interior, restaurant and room space were all beautiful, luxurious and satisfying - it was the support of staff while I managed luggage logistics that truly left the strongest impression. My only complaint and it feels excessive to call it. That would be that the shuttle service that is advertised I would assume would run from the main station of Nara but I found out on the day that it did not. This left me to carry a large amount of luggage a fairly long way.
