Let me start with a big thank-you for my birthday stay in June. It started with an unexpected generous upgrade plus the efforts to continue the platinum benefits in spite of the temporary closure of the executive lounge. I always enjoy the sunny roofed swimming pool, the spacious gym and spa. I also enjoy breakfasts on arrival in the lounge time to time when I have an early flight in. If I have a night flight out, generous late check out is available most of the time. There’s no other hotels in Japan except Swissotel Nankai Osaka to enjoy the membership value in the same way. For some reason I didn’t get email and didn’t have a chance to express my appreciation for my last stay. For this stay in September I experienced some difficulties to have the same service, possibly related to management/operation change due to the time? I hope it changes back by the next time I stay.

The hotel was extremely brilliant and comfortable to stay, but the entrance to the hotel, access to the parking lot and from the room to the exit was a little confusing.

Had just landed after a difficult flight through Vietnam red-tape and a sleepless night.What did we find?A sanctuary of calm and friendliness.Within minutes we were taken to the lounge where a lovely coffee was most welcome.The staff could not have been better or more helpful;I shall mention a couple:the young lady from Mexico(Flora?) a local charming young lady and last but not least Ms Santiago who oozes efficiency and a lot of charm;no doubt she will be due for a massive promotion soon! A slight criticism:why was there no fish on offer for breakfast;even though it was a good spread I felt that in Japan a little seafood would have been welcome.

We booked non- refundable rooms at 5 hotels in Japan for our trip. Every hotel we booked except Swissôtel Nankai Osaka (including Conrad Tokyo and Hyatt Regency Kyoto) allowed us to cancel without penalty during the coronavirus outbreak. When sumo, our original reason reason for visiting Japan, was cancelled we contacted all of our hotels, Swissôtel Nankai Osaka was the ONLY one that charged the full room rate if we cancelled.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The location is very convenient, the hotel staff is outstanding, the breakfast excellent (a big selection of high-quality products). I wasn't particularly happy with the room, though. I was told to be given a room upgrade, but the room was extremely small, with a tiny bathroom; some facilities weren't fully functional. I have stayed in other Swissotels before and always got significantly larger and more convenient rooms. On the positive side, the bed was very good.

All of the staff we interacted with were very attentive and friendly. Our room was comfortable, clean, and roomy. Our only complaint was that the room had a strong tobacco smoke smell that was quite offensive.

I loved my stay at Swissotel Nankai. I have been wanting to try to stay there for a while now and finally decided on trying it out for a night. And boy, did I make the right decision! Stay at Swissote Nankai is considered pricy in terms of Japanese hotel standards but you get a more or less ‘international sized hotel’ (might be slightly smaller) but very close to what you get in other countries. The hotel is very conveniently located at Nankai Namba Station where you can take a direct train to/from Kansai Airport. It is also walking distance to numerous malls, shops, eating places and tourist spots (e.g. Dotombori, Glico Man, Shinsaibashisuji, etc.) One of my (very) few disappointments with the hotel is the strict check-in time (at 3pm, although Accor ALL status members typically can get early check-in at most other properties) and late check-out (didn’t get much extension). Also, despite having a chance for an upgrade due to my status, I unfortunately didn’t get any (unlike in most of the other Accor properties I stayed at, it’s almost always guaranteed). Nevertheless, the stay was still awesome! The rooms were clean, comfortable and recently renovated. The view from the room - amazing! Service was great, especially after the surprise for my friend’s birthday! The staff gave us a surprise birthday cake, with matching birthday song and balloons! It was really very memorable for my friend! The view from the restaurant on the 36th floor is beautiful! You can enjoy the cocktails or dinner at night, and have a clear view of the city in the day while having breakfast. Breakfast was OK, spread wasn’t as wide, but is good enough. In terms of the facilities, the gym could use a little updating of equipment, and payment for the use of the jacuzzi/bath could be made complimentary to hotel guests. The hotel pool is sizeable, but the fixed separation of the lanes made it less fun, more functional. Overall, it was a very memorable stay, and it’s a must to try staying at the hotel even for a night, when in Osaka. Would love to stay again!

Location is very good and close to the shopping malls. Gentlemen at front dest are very helpful. Clean room and comfortable bed. Nice hotel!
