Stayed through golden week. Great location for access to the Umeda underground station. Hotel room was ample for a single traveller. The view from the room is quiet.

My stay at ibis Osaka Umeda was quite disappointing, especially considering the high room prices. I expected a comfortable and modern experience from the ibis brand, but the actual experience was far below expectations. The rooms were extremely small compared to many other hotels in Osaka within the same price range. For the amount being charged, the room comfort and facilities were simply not worth it. The hotel also lacked several basic amenities that are standard in many hotels today. Complimentary drinking water bottles were not provided in the room, which was surprising because even smaller and cheaper hotels usually provide them as a basic courtesy. Another major disappointment was the TV and entertainment setup. At these prices, guests expect at least Android TV or smart TV functionality. Many hotels already provide this. Even if replacing all TVs is not within the hotel’s budget, the management can easily upgrade existing TVs using affordable Android TV sticks or streaming devices. This is a low-cost improvement that can significantly enhance the guest experience without changing the entire television setup. The coffee arrangement was also disappointing. Other ibis hotels provide proper coffee machines, which gives a much better experience, but here only basic coffee packets were provided in the room. It felt like an unnecessary cost-cutting measure. A proper coffee machine would be a much better option for guests. Cleanliness standards also need improvement. The floors and carpets did not appear to be cleaned properly, and overall housekeeping quality felt below standard. The management should seriously compare their prices with other hotels in Osaka offering similar or lower rates. Many competing hotels provide much better rooms, facilities, cleanliness, and overall value for money at the same price point. Suggestions for Improvement: Provide complimentary bottled drinking water in all rooms. Add Android TV or smart TV functionality in rooms. If replacing TVs is expensive, install affordable Android TV sticks or similar streaming devices on existing TVs to modernize the entertainment system at minimal cost. Replace basic coffee sachets with proper coffee machines like other ibis properties. Improve housekeeping standards, especially carpet and floor cleaning. Reconsider room pricing according to the actual facilities and room size being offered. Improve overall guest comfort and amenities to match the prices being charged. Compare facilities and value offered by competing Osaka hotels in the same price range and improve accordingly. Considering the disappointing experience and poor value for money, the hotel should consider compensating affected guests through partial refunds, reward points, discount vouchers, complimentary upgrades, or similar goodwill gestures to restore customer trust and satisfaction.
