The classic room looks a bit old. It should be renovated to look better.

1. It took time to check in. 2. Many Chinese speakers were speaking loudly in the night at the same floor. My daughter was scared, so she didn't want to go to a SPA. 3. For the time being, we would not stay again.

Spider webs around corners, used paper towels under the bed, dirty carpet, smoke smell in the room and along the hallway

Your comments about spider webs, used paper towels under the bed, stains on the carpet, and even the smell of cigarettes are unacceptable in our cleaning and management system, and we take them very seriously. To summarize, if you're looking for stunning views of Lake Biwa, this hotel is indeed perfect. But honestly, aside from the scenery, it's utterly worthless! My family and I happily booked a 612 tatami room to experience the charm of Lake Biwa. Having previously worked in hotel rooms, I'm extremely particular about details. Especially considering it was listed as a five-star hotel on Google Maps, the cleanliness and attention to detail in the tatami room were completely subpar! I understand that older hotels have a certain feel to them, but that's no excuse for neglecting hygiene. I think anyone with a discerning eye should know that even a decent hotel, no matter how outrageous, wouldn't have such a thick layer of dust around the door frame! And this dust clump was right next to my futon on the floor... Upon entering the room, on the right-hand side of the pillar, I looked up and saw a spider web floating there. As someone with a fear of spiders, I almost jumped into Lake Biwa and swam all the way back to Kyoto on the spot. As a long-established five-star hotel with decent occupancy rates, does it really lack the money and time to even repair the sliding doors? Secondly, why are there what looks like stickers on the walls? If it's for wall repair, please use better materials. Finally, the table in the room was covered in dust as soon as I put my things down, and there were even fingerprints, probably left during cleaning. Again, how can such a large hotel make such basic mistakes? The toilet had moldy and yellowed rubber strips that weren't replaced, and the toilet bowl was stained with urine. I remember Japan has produced quite a few cleaning products for proper toilets. And sleeping on the floor... I personally can sleep on it, but wearing short sleeves, shorts, and pajamas, it was so itchy I couldn't sleep. I don't know if it was insects or dust on the floor, but either of those could cause my skin allergy. For those with sensitive skin like me, it's a matter of personal opinion, but try to avoid choosing a tatami room. By the way, my family came to visit, but I'm staying in Kyoto in an older apartment. The toilet at this hotel is exactly the same type as my 40-year-old apartment, but the sealing strips are in much worse condition; it's obvious whether they've been cleaned or not. I hope to receive a constructive reply.

We also thank you for taking the time to provide us with detailed feedback regarding the guest room and facilities. We deeply regret that there were many issues that should never have occurred, such as inadequate room cleaning, residual dust and cobwebs, deteriorated facilities, and unsanitary conditions in the toilet. It was clear that there were deficiencies in our final inspection system after cleaning, and we shared this with the cleaning staff and management manager and immediately corrected the issue. We will also regularly replace the bedding in the Japanese-style rooms and thoroughly dry them at high temperatures, including to prevent dust mites and dust. Going forward, we will review our guest room management standards so that guests with sensitive skin can rest assured. Our hotel believes that even in its age, cleanliness is a necessary quality. We take your comments seriously and will re-educate all staff and continue to make improvements. We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations.
