My stay at this hotel was truly enjoyable. From the moment you walk in, you are impressed by the luxurious entrance hall and the view on Lake Biwa from the lounge area. The staff was very welcoming, and included some English speakers. They were all extremely professional and caring. After 3 weeks touring Japan, I needed a bit of TLC and made good use of the spa facilities. In the morning, I was impressed by the incredible breakfast buffet offering an array of food for Japanese and Western palates, and including on demand omelettes, pancakes, etc. The restaurant is on the second floor with an incredible view towards the lake. During my stay, I experienced two types of rooms. The first one was of a more traditional Japanese style, and the second one was exceptionally comfortable with an even greater view towards the lake. This being a Japanese hotel, you will find an elegant Yukata in your room, which you can wear to visit the spa and other areas around the hotel. The hotel location right on Lake Biwa is exceptional. It is also next to Nagahama Castle and its park planted with cherry trees. The town of Nagahama will please anyone interested in Japanese history, traditions, and craftsmanship.
