On check-in one young lady at reception was pleasant. Her colleague however was most definitely not. Accor is an international brand, of whose loyalty programme we have been members for many, many years. We ascertained that the television only had programmes in German and asked at reception, whether accessing other options might be possible. We were met by a definite and extremely rude "no" from the colleague. When I challenged her, her response was arrogant, rude and dismissive. Service to guests and dealing with their queries is clearly quite foreign to this young lady. On check-out the next morning (apparently with the deputy manager), the exchanges were also most unfriendly. There was no "Thank you for your loyalty" or "Did you enjoy your stay?". Absolutely nothing. That member of staff also clearly did not care less. Seems to be a common problem here. Hotel staff are the link between the guest and the hotel and are important for the hotel's survival.Where on earth does the Ibis Styles in Bielefeld get its staff from? This hotel needs urgently to embark on a process of training its staff that relations with guests (and their possible return) means the difference between success and failure. We will most definitely not be returning. I recommend to other members of Accor to avoid. There are lots of good alternatives in Bielefeld, where the guest is guaranteed to be treated with respect. You have a lot to do, Herr Kinsperger. I strongly suggest you waste no time.

Good location, friendly personal, clean room The only thing I have to mention, we got a refrigerator in our room, which was so loud that we couldn’t sleep

Not advised before booking or at check-in about external noise

I had very poor sleep for my stay as I was not advised prior to booking or at check-in about about the external noise from the trams. After requesting to to move rooms I was told the hotel was fully booked and I have the option to leave the hotel and find elsewhere. However, you should advise guests as part of the booking process that quiet rooms are available.
