I was disappointed this time in Dampoort that the on site restaurant is now permanently closed. In the past the restaurant was a key deciding factor for choosing the hotel. I am not sure if I would choose again when travelling alone, as safe low-key dining as a solo female traveller is a priority. Your staff were fantastic as always- efficient and friendly at reception with check-in, and adding my car parking to the bill.

Our var was vandalized outside in just 10 or 15 min while we were checking in and at night the area was filled with unsafe looking people all around.

IBIS hotel is very close to the bus/train station. It is clean, well organized, and great for a solo traveler. The staff is very friendly and also quite helpful. Breakfast was impressive! many choices, well organized, and efficiently put together. I was very pleased with my stay!

We stayed for two nights at IBIS Ghent Dampoort and used the hotel as a central location for a weekend in Ghent. The hotel is easily reachable by car and access to the parking garage is clearly marked. Once inside the hotel we were greeted with a nice ambiance and very friendly and helpful staff. There are lots of things to do indoors such as table tennis, books, fussball and of course a restaurant with food and drinks. To access our room we had to go through a passage outside the hotel. It is a little bit unfortunate this is not covered as you will have to take your jacket in order to get to the reception and back. Especially when its cold. The rooms are a little bit on the small side, but it is known to the staff (it is also indicated in the elevators). For a short stay like a weekend getaway these rooms are ideal as they offer a comfortable beds and a clean bathroom, shower gel, soap and fresh towels. Unfortunately if you have more luggage you will struggle a bit with where to keep your suitcases. Placing them under the bed is likely your best option to prevent blocking the path. Rooms do have television and access to local channels, but keep in mind that it is not possible to cast your phone to the TV. Hangers are offered for your convenience but there is no safe, no kettle and the hotel offers no cups on the room (although they are available at the reception). During our visit we encountered some dust in our rooms, but after going to the reception this was quicklt solved, thanks to the very friendly staff. Breakfast is near the reception and the hotel offers a continental breakfast with lots of different breads, waffles, coffee and tea, as well boiled and scrambled eggs and yoghurt. The quality of the breakfast is excelle t, but during our stay, unfortunately, we found only the eggs not to be as fresh as we would expect. Close to the hotel you will find a Carrefour supermarket which is best reached on foot. Accessing the city center is also easy by foot and takes you just 10 minutes. All in all, if you look for an affordable stay for a few days in Ghent, consider IBIS Dampoort. A comfortable, easy to reach, hotel close to the city.
