My room was clean and comfortable, and I felt safe during my stay. The self check in made things so much easier. The lobby had a lot of energy. I would stay here again if I were in the area. It's a bit far out of the city center but the price was much better and the walk was fine. It's great being so close to Ghent dampoort station too.

The room was basic but served my purpose. It was clean and fresh, and the bed comfortable. The fixed hangers for clothes were pretty useless - how one was expected to hang one's trousers up was a mystery. The handbasin was compact, but the long tap extending over it meant there was a risk of concussion whenever one washed one's face. Sam was on reception when I arrived. She was friendly and efficient, and would be a credit any hotel - hang on to her.

Overall very good. Clean, comfortable room, good location, friendly staff. Only negative has to do with the courtyard in the back of the hotel. In general this is a very good feature. But on my last night at 4 am a group of four or five guests returned to the hotel and decided to continue their party. Loudly. My window was open and the noise woke up. After about 10 minutes it was obvious they weren't stopping anytime soon. I got dressed, went down to reception and asked to have them shut up. She did and to be fair the noise wasn't as obvious in the reception area as from my room. Just close the courtyard between certain hours and problem solved. It can't be done physically but put some signs up and enforce it.

The location - very close to Dampoort station and a short walk from the old town - is very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful, all areas of the hotel were clean and neat and well signed. The room was well designed, not large but adequate, with a sparkling bathroom and plenty of hot water. Though I didn't use them, the breakfast area was busy with good looking food and the bar area was cheerful.

We were very pleased with our room at the ibis Gent Centrum Dampoort. It has everything you need for a short stay. The double bed was comfortable and a good size. The bathroom had a good shower and included toiletries. Our room was quiet, facing the inner courtyard which we appreciated. We were pleased that we could park our car in the hotel's car park too. The breakfast was excellent including hot food and continental breakfast items. We especially like the fresh loaves and baguettes that you could slice yourself.

I booked a room for 3 people (2 adults and an 11-year-old kid). As soon as we got into the room, we were speechless. It felt like a joke. It was completely unlivable for three people. The room was tiny with no wardrobe storage, not even one bedside, no space to open suitcases (luckily, I only had a backpack and a carry-on) or walk. Opening the wall-bed left zero room to move. Also, there was no space to get out of the double bed, so one person had to climb over the other. To be generous, it was a room for two people max. Very disappointed.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a birthday weekend. Lovely hotel. About 20 minutes walk into Ghent and 5 minutes walk to railway station. Staff were very friendly. Ghent is beautiful. We also visited Bruges and Brussels on train. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend. Great value
