We chose Pullman Resort Al Marjan Island expecting a relaxed, family-friendly stay. Unfortunately, several avoidable issues made the experience disappointing, starting right from check-in. At reception, we were challenged for not carrying a physical Emirates ID. We clearly explained that we could provide the official digital ID from the UAE government ICP portal, which is legally valid. Instead of handling this professionally, the receptionist turned it into a prolonged argument. Only after unnecessary back-and-forth was the room finally granted. This is not how a guest should be welcomed, especially at a resort. During booking, we had also requested a birthday cake arrangement in the room as a surprise for our child. This was acknowledged at the time of booking. However, when we asked about it at check-in, the same receptionist denied the request outright and showed no willingness to verify or help. The lack of empathy and basic hospitality was disappointing, and the planned surprise was missed. Out of the two rooms we booked, one had issues with the wardrobe and washroom doors. When we reported this, a technician visited and informed us that the doors had been locked by the hotel due to a short-circuit issue. This raises a serious question: if the room was known to be faulty, why was it assigned to guests in the first place? Instead of relaxing, we had to spend time reporting issues and waiting for maintenance. At checkout, the experience was notably different. The lady handling checkout asked whether the birthday surprise had been arranged. When we explained that it had been denied earlier, she immediately arranged it. That gesture was kind and appreciated. However, by then, the moment we had planned for our child was already lost. Hospitality is about consistency, accountability, and understanding guest expectations. While some staff showed care, the initial interactions and poor room allocation significantly impacted what should have been a pleasant family vacation. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, ours was not a good one.

hotel is just ok, reception renovated but rooms and corridors not. Not enough sun beds by the pool (by 11am all were taken), breakfast was a war zone and beach is by shuttle and not in the property

Overall experience was good. Did have some issues though with the room “power card” but was resolved. One suggestion would be to have more equipment at the gym.
