Our recent stay at Sofitel was unfortunately far below expectations, particularly in terms of service and dining. Dinner at the restaurant was a frustrating experience. The set menu was not clearly explained, which led to confusion while ordering. We ordered starters including a Caesar salad and chicken noodle soup, and even after asking the staff to clarify whether the bacon was beef or turkey, no one returned to assist us. The main courses were equally disappointing. The buttered chicken was served with rice that was dry and hard, and the Wagyu burger took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, the patty quality was poor and not up to standard. Overall service during dinner was slow, and we constantly had to follow up, otherwise requests were forgotten. For example, despite dining at 9:21 PM, the burger only arrived at 10:28 PM, and the entire experience stretched close to midnight. Housekeeping and room readiness also need improvement. The bathroom floor was wet despite no visible leakage, and slippers were not available in the room—something that should have been communicated at check-in. This was our first experience with Sofitel, and it was unsatisfactory. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves both service standards and communication for future guests. – Alyssa & Dinesh

This resort is beautiful, the rooms are very clean and the decor is perfect. The sea view is lovely. The staff are all very accomodating, polite and helpful. There is a buffet restaurant, and an à la carte restaurant which looks over the sea both are very nice wnd have a wide range of options. The buffet restaurant had a menu so you could see the options that would be available including many vegan/veggie dishes but on the night I would say it was not very vegan/veggie friendly outside of the salad bar. The à la carte has a variety of option including a tofu dish which was incredible. Unfortunately the lagoon pool, including the swim up bar, and beach juice bar were closed and we were not informed of this (and this was the main reason we booked!), so we were upset about this but overall the stay was good and the place is lovely.

Rooms and facilities were very good. Staff were attentive. Large pools, social areas and beach which added to the experience. Food was good, though not great. Maka was a great experience.

We had a great experience over the weekend at Sofitel Al Hamra! And will definitely be back! We booked 5 rooms and 2 couples came with their dogs which were extremely well accommodated by the facilities and even more so, the staff! Big shout out to Charlene, Isuru and Sonam who made our stay extra special.
