It was my second time experience with Rixos Bab Al Bahar. Unfortunately I returned back with unpleasant and disappointing experience. The food is fabulous and meet the highest standards of quality. The outdoor amenities and activities are excellent. The staff is very cheerful and warmly welcoming. But unfortunately rooms are very dirty and I would give one star to rooms quality. The room carpet was very dirty like never vacuumed. The exhaust system is very poor or might not be working at all which keeps the room stinky all the time. I believe there is no any pest control system. I could not sleep all the night due to mosquitoes. Not only mosquitoes, other insects also have been noticed.

Very bad stay, Degraded service, crowded areas and pools, overfilled hotel, weak room hygiene

Degraded service: We were asked by reservation team to come earlier around 11:30 to get a room earlier but ended up waiting with kids more than 4 hours to get a room. Room assignment itself was a disaster, had to change room twice. My personal preferences were not considered quoting always the argument of "subject to availability" which is known und understandable BUT if you cannot guarantee the guest requirements at least let him know in advance. Overall check-in service was very bad. Untrained Bar staff (or simply ignorant) using the same spoon to mix alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic ones!!! That should not and cannot happen in a country like the UAE. Some of the drinks were meant for children and one bar tender among the rest luckily made the comment about the spoon, otherwise we wouldn't know. Another bar tender just asking a Muslim old women who was standing in front of me with a clearly conservative Muslim dress and head scarf if she wants the drink with Alcohol or not! I mean, what level of disrespect and ignorance is that! Crowded areas. restaurants and pools: simply lot of people at every facility of this hotel but especially in the restaurants, this mad our hotel stay unpleasant. Overfilled and understaffed hotel: one gets the feeling that due to the high number of reservations, the hotel came to its limits in terms of facilities capacity and available staff. Everything took too much time and I have no understanding that this happened because of Eid holidays. We stayed at the same Rixos hotel and other hotels many times before including during Eid holidays and things were much better. Weak room hygiene and old room fit outs and equipment: The room had no desk light nor corner stand light. The reading light spots on the bed sides were not working. The sofa was not convertible as a sofa-bed as advertised and was too dirty with lot of ugly spots. Room carpet not very clean. No prayer mat inside the room. Newly washed swimming pool towels had red stains and had to be replaced. Room service was extremely slow and every demand took ages to be provided. I had to wait more than one hour to get shower towels provided and only after three calls to the room service. I asked also for pillows and the staff provided them with bar hands without any gloves (who knows what he was holding in hands before bringing the towels) Offending behavior by some western guests kissing and sitting in very intimate positions in public areas such as in the bar and inside the swimming pools with many kids around. Clear signs of That is simply not acceptable. Extremely high level of pH in the swimming pool. I returned back with ear infection that caused high pain and very aggressive mosquito bites. All in all, it was a very bad experience and after being regular guests at this hotel, we decided no to book again there.

Got the chance to stay again in this amazing all-inclusive hotel and it was a well-deserved get away with friends. Thankful for the warm welcome and good service that made our stay worthwhile. Special thanks to Ms Joy and to the front desk personnel(sorry didn’t get his name) who accommodated our check-in and it was hassle free till we checked-out. Thank you and till our next staycation😉

It was the 3rd year in a row to book in Eid holidays, unfortunately there was no any kind of special price or discount for repeating customer or any upgrade. also reservation team was only after confirming the payment & no proper reply for inquiry. Worst thing I paid more than other families joined us while our room occupancy is less than them !!! this let me decide to explore other hotels which can get with same rates better rooms or luxury stay.
