Great Location and Comfortable Room

This hotel is in a great location to explore Glasgow. The staff were friendly and our room was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. There were a variety of restaurants within a few blocks. The train station is nearby and lots of shopping within easy walking distance.

Good location - pleased with our stay

My daughter and I recently spent three nights at the Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square in Glasgow, Scotland. The room was included in a Gate 1 tour, so I cannot really comment on the price. The hotel is located in central Glasgow about two blocks from George Square. The Queen Street train station is about three blocks away. There are many bars, restaurants and shops in the area. I would describe this Ibis as a boutique hotel. The registration desk is on the first (US second) floor. The combination lobby/breakfast dining area has plenty of tables and chairs for socializing, albeit in a college cafeteria-type setting. Apparently, the Ibis also offers a limited fastfood-type menu if you’re hungry. Wifi is free. Check-in was courteous and efficient. We were assigned room -813. Like most European hotels, the room was small by US standards, but not unusually so. As is common in Europe, you have to put your room key/card in a slot when you entered to have power in the room. (You also need to use your card to access the elevator.) The room was clean and decorated in what I would consider minimalist modern with nods to Glasgow’s heritage. For example, there were graphics of cranes (a reminder of its ship harbor), design patterns reminiscent of local architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and a picture over the beds of the iconic Duke of Wellington statue with its traffic cone. (See pictures.) There was an actual wardrobe, which was half shelves, half closet. A hairdryer and iron/ironing board were inside. No in-room safe, refrigerator nor telephone. Furniture consisted of a long wide shelf that served as a desk. There also was a desk chair, a small round nightstand table, a small round ottoman/table and a luggage rack. A desk lamp and an electric teapot with assorted coffee/tea fixings were on the desk. A plus was an over-bed table. (See picture.) Our standard double/twin room came with two twin beds. Each bed had two pillows and a duvet. (One extra pillow was in the wardrobe.) The beds were a little soft, but comfortable. Each bed had an individual reading light and USB port. There also was a large flat-screen TV. One minor irritation about the room: very noticeable floor creaking could be heard whenever one walked outside the bathroom door. Petty, but still aggravating. The bathroom was adequately sized with appreciated counter space next to the sink. There was wall-mounted hand soap and hair/body wash (in the shower). Bath towels were nice and large; no washcloths though. The glass shower enclosure was normal-sized. Water pressure could have been stronger, but the temperature was fine. Breakfast was included with the room and was served off the lobby. The offerings consisted of the usual combination of hot & cold items. Overall, we were very pleased with the location of the hotel and would recommend it for anyone wanting to explore the central Glasgow area. Friendly staff. Room was well furnished. Bed very comfortable. Shower excellent. Breakfast choice very good although bacon & tattie scones a bit overdone.

Great stay apart from a curtain pole and curtains coming down in my hand and hitting me

From start to finish we had an excellent stay. Staff were superb and very helpful. The hotel is also next to shops and eateries, which was an added bonus. I will definitely stay there again.
