I have fond memories of regularly staying in Ibis hotels in South West France when considering a move there twenty years ago so was prepared to pay a premium rate for what I hoped would be a similar or better experience. Were my expectation too high ? I certainly wasn't expecting a dour view out of a small window, a thin duvet that I had to supplement with a towel on top, inadequate heating in the room and no kettle or tea and coffee supplies. Something very structurally wrong with Accor's approach to Ibis Budget and it compares very badly to other options in Glasgow.

Ibis Budget as a brand does not offer tea and coffee within the room, you may find some hotels that are trialing a tray which is rentable but we have not incorporated this into our hotel. We have tea and coffee at reception 24/7. Our duvets are the standard for Accor and on request we can offer additional duvets - this would have been a solution for yourself perhaps. I was amazed when I arrived to be asked for my credit card on booking . If they had explained that it was in the terms then fine but the agent at the desk proceeded to tell me it because they get a lot of broken windows and it’s in case I break a window. And on asking to speak to a manager I was told he was in a meeting but the maintenance man was actually available.

As you can see, the team were following instructions and you did agree to this when making the reservation. You may be asked for a guarantee in other hotels and often they take a pre-authorised amount, we do not do this. The maintenance team member you mention is a head of department so a manger in his own right & is capable of answering any questions you may have.
