We had been driving all day due to a mix up when checking out of our AirBNB in Chambéry. My wife mistakenly left her backpack. We only found out after 3+ hours of driving, so we quickly returned to Chambéry to get the bag. It was now after 5 pm and we needed a room at the last moment. We found the Park Hotel in Grenoble and the had a room, upgraded us and gave us the discount for being All Accor members. We also had a great dinner, drinks and wine for a very reasonable and affordable price. This made a bad day seem pretty good after all.

I greatly appreciated this hotel. The rooms were generous and comfortable with betting that induced sleep. The breakfast was amazing with a great choice, friendly service, and tasty and fresh offerings. The lights were abundant and well positioned although it took me a while to figure them out – this could easily be cured with a QR code or document in the room. The hotel has a good vibe. However, there were a few issues that marred may stay, below in order of importance: – The bathroom shower overhead showerhead cause flooding every time I used it. I tried piling up towels to block the water from going over the ledge. I even tried not going into the shower and still flooding occurred. This is a design flaw or I wasdoing something terribly wrong. – I usually iron clothes upon arrival but there was no iron or ironing board and despite frequent requests, including directly to the owner at his restaurant across town, I could not get one until extremely late at night after being told repeatedly that none were available. I did get an iron, but the ironing board was somewhere between unusable and dangerous. It had no cover, and there was metal sticking out, which ended up ripping my shirt and made it very difficult to iron on the metal. I have never been to a hotel and experienced this type of problem. A true luxury hotel says yes, no matter what to such a basic request and makes it happen. Even if it means finding an iron and ironing board at a retail store. In retrospect, I probably should’ve taken one of the towels for a cover - evenif it was wet) from the bathroom and use that on top of the metal ribbed board. – the closet was nice, but I could not find drawers to store clothes. I ended up using my suitcase, which is not what I would expect in a luxury hotel. Also, despite the fact I had very few clothes, I ran out of hangers. Hangers should be generously supplied. -The big key does provide a nice old-school elegance, but is bulky to carry around in a suit pocket – especially if you’re appearing on stage as a featured speaker as I was. I was not given the choice of leaving at the front desk. I could’ve asked, but that option should be provided to all guests as a matter of of course.
