The rooms were dated and in need of modernisation. Staff were polite but not overly attentive - I had to ask about food and timings. Breakfast on the Sunday morning felt like it was a chore for the staff to be there and I felt very much like a number since everything was self serve. On check in, I enquired about an early breakfast and was told they would need to find out and let me know - no one did nor did anyone else know when I asked. Not sure if there is a footpath behind the hotel but lots of people were walking up and down outside at all hours. As a single women on the ground floor this made me uneasy to have my window open which in the current weather was needed as you don't have aircon. The extra fans in the room and bottle of water at check in was well received thank you. Well positioned for what I needed but not quite to the standard I have come to expect from a Marriott.

I had booked with the Mercure through an agent for my family and I, unaware that the hotel would have no AC, which was a crucial piece of information for my epileptic daughter and my own health, which made our stay a little difficult, because opening the windows on the ground floor were a security risk. Better for travellers during the cold. Despite this factor, everything else was lovely. The rooms had reasonable space. It was clean, and all the staff were very kind and accommodating. Even gave us 2 fans.
