Upon check out, I asked the front desk receptionist do they accept US Armed Forces VAT forms. She called a lead to ask because she wasn’t sure. The lead asked me what it is, and I explained the form to her. She looked annoyed and I guess because I’m American she didn't think I understood Deutsch. She said to her colleague in Deutsch “These damn immigrants always make us have more work.” I let her walk off and politely said to the front desk receptionist “Please tell your lead it’s highly unprofessional to switch languages just to talk disrespectfully.” With that being said I will not return.

Super lovely hotel with mostly very good service. Extraordinarily comfortable bed, and superbly laid-out bathroom. Lobby bar was spot on, save for the food menu which was a bit too ambitious for bar food. Breakfast was very pretty comprehensive, however the service was a bit scattered—took a while to get someone’s attention for coffee. Was really considering two other hotels in town, and decided to book this in the end. Wise decision. Great location, close to most tourist attractions and tons of restaurant options.

We stayed at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera for 4 nights in mid-September and splurged on a suite to celebrate our anniversary. I did not inform the hotel of this, yet we were still greeted with a personal note, a bottle of champagne and a lovely dessert stand. The room was spectacular, with a balcony that went the entire length of the room on two sides. We had meals and (almost full) moon viewings out there. The room was spotless and the service impeccable. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and the soul of courtesy. I was also ridiculously happy that the room had something that I miss every time I leave my home (except, of course, when I visit Japan): a Toto washlet! (Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!) I chose the hotel for its location, and couldn’t have been happier with my choice all around. Many thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful stay.
