It was the 6th or 7th stay in the NOVOTEL Hannover and all was as expected. The friendly stuff from desk over restaurant to housekeeping, the overall cleanliness, the facilities, everything is on high quality and it makes a good feel to return.

Having prepaid the stay I had to pay city tax by card. Cash wasn't accepted. Why do I have to pay in two steps for one stay? The room kept cold although the heating system was on 24 centigrade Celsius. I was not informed prior of my stay that the entrance to the very expensive parking lot was blocked. Thus I had to go to the other entrance after having arrived at the hotel. There is room for more service.

Rooms are a bit noisy (traffic on the streets), the size of the bed is good for one person but for a double room I expected more of a king size bed and not a queens. The description should be better. The shower gel in the bathroom was not checked/filled up during the stay (or the dispense is defective). I took 20 or so pump cycles to get something out. While the selection at the breakfast buffet is quite good, the quality could be better, especially for the sausage selection.

This was my second stay at the hotel, and there are certainly positives worth noting. The location is very convenient, with easy access to public transport and the town centre. The reception and dining room staff are generally warm and welcoming, particularly a young Italian team member (from Rome, I believe), who provided excellent service during my stay. That said, there are a few areas where improvements would make a noticeable difference. On arrival, the corridor on my floor had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. While my room was clean, there was also a noticeable scent of air freshener. I’m not sure whether smoking is permitted in certain rooms, but the overall impression was not ideal. The bed and pillows were also somewhat average in terms of comfort. For business travellers, the absence of irons and ironing boards in the rooms is slightly inconvenient. I understand these are available on request; however, supply appears limited, and a colleague experienced difficulty obtaining one when needed. At breakfast, the single toaster in the dining area was not functioning properly on one side. I mentioned this to staff, but it remained in use the following morning. A more reliable, commercial-grade toaster would likely improve the breakfast experience, particularly during busy periods. The gymnasium is also very basic and has restricted opening hours (7am–9pm). For guests who prefer to exercise before breakfast or later in the evening, this can be limiting. When I asked about the opening hours at reception, the explanation provided felt somewhat dismissive. A more flexible approach, or clearer communication around options, would be appreciated. We later discovered that guests may be eligible for discounted access to the larger gym next door, but this was not proactively communicated, and it would have been helpful to know. Overall, the hotel has strong fundamentals in terms of location and several very friendly team members. With some modest investment in facilities, clearer communication of guest options, and a review of certain policies, it could offer a significantly more comfortable and business-friendly experience.

Got upgraded as a Platinum member and was extremely satisfied with the service Going home late at night the doors were locked and my keycard wouldn't let me in. That's the only concern where I was worried about being locked out until the reception desk came back and opened the door for me.
