A reasonably good stay

It was my first stay at a Novotel Suites hotel in my life, so I wasn't sure what the expect. On the whole, it was a reasonably good stay, with some elements that could have been slightly better. **LOCATION** The hotel is near the main railway station, so very convient if you can by train. **CHECK-IN** When I arrived at the hotel, there were no other guests in the lobby, so check-in was quick. (The next day, there was a very long queue and only 1-2 receptionists.) The receptionist didn't seem very friendly, though. She said around 5 words in total. She didn't provide much information about hotel services. I got my welcome drinks voucher only after asking for it. **SUITE**The suites are quite big, so there's plenty of space for 2 (or even 3) guests. But the rooms are starting to show some wear and tear. The table in my suite didn't look good - the surface was scratched/cut. In each suite, there's a bathroom and a separate toilet. They're a prefabricated unit (plastic walls). While the bathroom area was great (spacious, with a shower and a separate bathtub), the toilet was claustrophobic and smelled bad. **ACCOR LIVE LIMITLESS ** As mentioned above, the welcome drinks voucher wasn't given pro-actively at check-in - I had to ask for it. (The bar is closed, so you get drinks from a mini-shop in the lobby.) Loyalty was not recognised during the stay at all. There was no welcome note in the room. We never got a welcome amenity for Gold/Platinum guests, either. According to the rules of the programme, certain hotel brands are required to provide some kind of welcome amenity.

I am an Accor Loyalty Customer for a number of years. Having mainly lived in the UK, I have always held Novotel in high regard. Especially my recent visit to the Novotel in London Southbank was exceptional. My recent work trip to Hannover was bad. The rooms are extremely dated, the bed smelled unpleasant and the shower head was broken. Also, the staff were not welcoming at all. Online check-in didn't work. Loyalty status wasn't acknowledged and overall attitude was the opposite of customer centric. Also, the area around the station feels unsafe during the night. Overall, would not recommend staying here.

We know the rooms much nicer. Our rooms had dirty walls and a torn room divider. At breackfast there was a long queue and the brackfast room/buffet far too cramped.

The staff is extrememly unfriendly and unhelpful. They charged me up front which I thought was strange. But then I saw the room and realized why they charge up front. The room is like time has stood still since 1986 except the dirt and grime hasn't. The place is filthy -- so much for "covid". Feels about as welcoming as a concrete cell. The bathroom and toilet are split into two rooms and entirety of both rooms is a self-contained plastic box insert. The safe was broken as well and this seems like the type of place the really needs a safe. Even asked the front desk for some spray cleaner so that I could clean the room and they gave it to me without offering so send someone or even apologize that the place disgusting. The bed is an instrument of torture. The sheets feel like sandpaper. The comforter is wafer thin. The pillows need to be quintupled up before they are even noticeable. Was suspicious of the hotel chain in general and this will be my last ever stay at a Novotel. This might even be worse that an Ibis. charging me up frontAbsolutely vile and disgusting, dirty, unfriendly staff, bare bones without even the bones.
