Well located but accomodation was dissapointing

Good location with easy access to all touristic addresses but the accomodation was rather dissapointing for a 4 star hotel, even if I chose an economy room. The 4 star standard should also be applicable in the economy room. You had barely space to put your luggage and the room wasn't cleaned the following day although I stayed two nights in the hotel

The hotel is centrally located in Vienna close to the train and tram. There are good restaurants nearby. Cleaning personnel cleans the room everyday. Breakfast is worth it for 24 euro. There is no deposit whatsoever during check in. Don’t book a budget hotel due to limited amenities. Superior room is decent in the duration of stay in Vienna. Overall, this is a good hotel and highly recommended for budget travellers!

Bad experience and room misrepresentation

I was provided with a room that was significantly different from what was advertised and booked on your website. 1.) Generally, the term “Connecting room” means two rooms that are connected by a locked adjoining door 2) The size of the connecting room in the reservation (also in the website and application) is 355 square feet (attached photo) but I received a superior room with 3 beds fit inside the room of 194 square feet! This misrepresentation is a clear breach of contract and has left me feeling deceived and frustrated. With so many other hotel options available, I chose Mercure specifically because of the promises made on your website. This is not only unacceptable but also damaging to your reputation. I demand a full explanation for this discrepancy and expect appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused. This is not merely a matter of a minor difference; it is a fundamental breach of trust. Today, 29 Sep 2024, I discussed what happened with the full time reception. This even makes things WORSE The receptionist told us that it is about the system that happened for a week. This means you even know that this would happen and you let it happen with no proactive measure. You had time in advance even had time to prepare the extra bed in the room but you did not even inform before we check in that the rooms were not available When we asked for compensation, the receptionist told us that she would only give us the "breakfast" because the manager is not working on weekends and said "at least my family and I had a room to stay" which is a superior room cramped with 3 beds inside. Only if we knew, we would not book Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof The receptionist told us that one of the faults is we checked in late so the rooms were not available. This means you manage the room with "first comes, first serves" method which is very unprofessional I wrote the email to reservation manager but has not been taken action seriously!

It sure looks like there were some major flaws within our reservations department including the check-in/check-out procedures. Sorry to also learn that our service was less than satisfactory. We would be very happy to offer you compensation. As a voucher may not be to your liking, I would be very grateful for a suggestion. Rest assured that we will take necessary measures so that an experience like yours will continue to be the rare exception. Great location. Helpful Staff

Initially we had a poor room with overtones of cigarette smoke that cleaners had tried to remove. The cleaning agents affected breathing. The agent o the front desk found us a new room on the same floor which was much better and bigger. After that everything was fine. The breakfasts were great and the travel connections nearby were very convenient. There are lots of restaurants in local area which were reasonably priced. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and helpful.

I chose this hotel for the price, as I had some constraints. The room is really simple, smoke smell in the bathroom. You would never guess you are in a 4 stars hotel.
