The price that was advertised was misleading in booking.com. I was surprised when the total cost came to 146 Euros as it was advertised for much less without warning of the taxes. Furthermore the electricty went out which meant that I was late for my appointment as I had to wait for first personnel and then the tech. before I could take a shower.

The hotel location is good near the train station but the staff almost all of them are rude and lacking hospitality and communication skills. They look like they are always busy but they do nothing. Not really paying attention to the guest! I think they dont know if no guest no hotel! They need to be reminded that all of their work to serve hotel guests! the cleaning team really need supervision as they don’t pay attention to any details The hotel is old but can still be cleaner if the team pay attention to the details.

Check in and out easy. Room clean. Shower above bath had a low box which was too low for me (I am 1m 93cm tall). No curtains on the window - only blinds that do not block out the early morning sun. Bar had no beer on the Tuesday. Only received 1 x 100 points for 2 night of ‘Go Green Skip the clean’.

A very well situated hotel with good staff. Management though need to make sure the staff message is consistent - for example, when I checked in I was told that as a platinum member I got free breakfast both days at weekends. The guy on the breakfast room was not having this!! And again - told at checkin the bar closes midnight, only for the barman to refuse to serve after 23:30 (and not the first time this has happened).

while checkout we have kept the luggage at luggage store as we have planned brwakfast in local bakery, while coming back to collect it there was only one staff for both checkout and checkin,, we haverequested that we just need our luggage as we have to catch the train. however staff very rudely said that we have to wait as she is attending checkin guest. Thankfully we did not missed the train we reached hust 6 mins before departure but there should be more staff and even if someone is alone, he or she should see the urgency rather being just rude.

The rooms are very old and they smell in a strange way. The pillows are very uncomfortable. I needed tomwait at the reception for 10 minutes before someone picked me up. Then I realised the front desk officer was in a cigarette break! I was not offered an upgrade even if I am a gold customer (close to platin) and the hotel was quite empty.

- A cleaning staff left a rag in my room, which I discovered upon returning in the evening. Not a big deal, I went down to reception and told them to remove it the next day when they returned, since it was late and I just wanted to retire for the evening. Next day, I leave it on the chair so it's obvious and tell reception before heading out. Returned in the evening and it's still there (although the room had been tidied up, so someone had clearly come by). - Also, bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, leaving a dirty towel on one day, and there being dirt or debris in the sink on another. - besides these, the hotel itself is decent. Not the most luxurious, and a bit noisy, but very well situated by Westbahnhof if you really need to be close to the train station e.g. traveling to the airport. Just be sure you're not confusing it for the other major station, Hauptbahnhof. - Service was OK, not super friendly, but not rude either, just very direct and transactional (which I don't mind, but others may be looking for more friendliness).

The staff at the reception didn’t feel warm and welcoming. I have been using Accor hotels for several years now. The hotel staff are usually very friendly and welcoming when you check in, especially if you’re a frequent Accor hotel guest. I checked in at Novotel Wien Haupbahnhof and Ibis Wien Westbahnhof, and both were great. But the Mercure Wien Westbahnhof was a big disappointment. The building is very old and not maintained well, and hotel staff don’t seem to be friendly and welcoming.

Not at all 'on brand' with Mercure. No AC, just a small fan and less than single bed.

The low overnight rate is the star attraction of these rooms, which do not include the usual Mercure standard features such as a safe, minibar, kettle, or full air conditioning (only central air conditioning that cannot be regulated).
