The ibis Wien Mariahilf sits in a genuinely convenient spot — right at the start of a pedestrian street with excellent transport connections and Vienna’s Westbahnhof just a short walk away. That, however, is where the praise ends. The restaurant was a disappointment on all fronts: the food falls short of expectations, the staff show little interest in guests, and breakfast service is consistently overcrowded, compounded by recurring operational issues. The menu selection feels unusually limited even by ibis standards. Rooms are clean and exactly what you’d expect from the chain — nothing more, nothing less. A decent base for exploring Vienna, but don’t count on the dining experience.

It was a really nice stay. The boy who checked me in was friendly and polite, and honestly all the staff, from reception to housekeeping, were really kind. The room wasn’t super modern, but it was clean and had a nice view. The restaurant area was really nice too, and breakfast was actually so good for the price. The location was also perfect, close to pretty much everything.

The problem is not related to the fact that it is perhaps the most run-down Ibis (stained carpet in the corridors and rooms, old bathrooms) of the many already visited around Europe, including the one in Paris Repubblique which is perhaps older than this one, but I want to talk about the fact that it is surprising that one should accept being robbed of €3 for the failure to deliver a bottle of water paid for by credit card in the vending machine at reception and that the girl present at the time told me is that it is not a problem of the hotel but of the operator of the machine so I should have called the manager by phone to ask for a refund. For me, the problem isn't the €3, but the response I received that evening. This changed the following morning when, at checkout, another girl told me that when we returned to collect our bags from storage, she would have her manager issue us a voucher. I then received another negative response from the Asian receptionist who was present when we picked up the bags, telling me there was nothing she could do and I'd have to sort it out myself. The problem for everyone wasn't solving the customer's thirst, which was very intense that evening, but saving Ibis €3 due to a matter of "procedure and service responsibility." For them, the procedure is more important than respecting the customer and resolving their needs. The problem isn't the €3, it's the lack of even the slightest empathy toward the customer. After many years at various All Accor properties, this is the worst treatment I've ever received. I'll make different choices for the future. Have a good evening.

Everything was fine. Only thing that I would reccomend is that you organize cleaning of the room every two days.
