Despite mentioning that the aircon wasn’t working to at least 3 team members and promised that an engineer would have a look at it, no one went to check on our room nor offered us another solution like a room move. Apart from that, only one single duvet was provided. We were told that someone was going to provide us another one but no one came.

We were taking a short break in Vienna, something we had wanted to do for many years. The ibis Wien Mariahilfer, whilst not in the city centre itself, was perfectly placed for us to visit the all of Vienna as well as places like the Schonbrunn Palace (less than 20 minutes on Tram 60). Being so close to Westbahnhof also meant that we could take a trip to Salzburg by train (OBB). Also, for Graham Greene fans, the number 5 tram runs from Westbahnhof to Prater, so you can go and get your 'Third Man' fix by visiting the ferris wheel made famous by the book and later the film. The hotel itself is very welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a huge choice of food for breakfast, which really sets you up for a day's sightseeing. The room we had was basic, but comfortable. A kettle with tea nad coffee making facilities would have been nice, though.It's a few minutes walk to the Westbahnhof where you can get a U3 train to the city centre, or trams 6 and 18 stop right outside the hotel, though I have no idea where they go! Would we come back to the ibis Wien Mariahilfer? Yes, in a heartbeat!

The ibis Wien Mariahilf sits in a genuinely convenient spot — right at the start of a pedestrian street with excellent transport connections and Vienna’s Westbahnhof just a short walk away. That, however, is where the praise ends. The restaurant was a disappointment on all fronts: the food falls short of expectations, the staff show little interest in guests, and breakfast service is consistently overcrowded, compounded by recurring operational issues. The menu selection feels unusually limited even by ibis standards. Rooms are clean and exactly what you’d expect from the chain — nothing more, nothing less. A decent base for exploring Vienna, but don’t count on the dining experience.

It was a really nice stay. The boy who checked me in was friendly and polite, and honestly all the staff, from reception to housekeeping, were really kind. The room wasn’t super modern, but it was clean and had a nice view. The restaurant area was really nice too, and breakfast was actually so good for the price. The location was also perfect, close to pretty much everything.
