I Liked the View from My Room

The two things I liked about this hotel were: (1) I had a nice view from my room (2) the breakfast and dinner were good (It came with the Costsaver tour). Other than that, this was a typical Ibis room - very small with tired, worn carpets and raised shower stalls. Would I stay here again? Normally not, only if forced to, as in this being part of a tour.

Complete disappointment

We actually booked a superior room, yet we were given a standard one. When we asked to move to a room conform to our booking we were given a worst one!! Receptionists are not honest as they promise to improve the situation and then leave everything as it is. Very poor room service. The towels weren’t changed nor the bathroom cleaned.!!

I was back in Vienna and at ibis Mariahilf. At my arrival I got a room on the hotel front (over Mariahilfer Gurtel): the street sees heavy traffic day and night, and the insulation from outside noise was almost non-existent, so it was hard to sleep. The following morning I complained at the reception desk, and they changed my room to one on the back: the rooms were exactly the same (comfortable bed, good air conditioning, good bathroom), but the room on the back was also very quiet and allowed a perfect sleep - so, thank you to the staff for changing my room! Breakfast was good with several choices available, and staff were very helpful.

Staff are very friendly and the reception area is welcoming but the rooms are very sparse and stark. Quite tired looking. The beds are so hard. The room was clean although housekeeping could've been more thorough - we frequently had glasses brought up to the room with us from breakfast or the bar, and they were never lifted during our stay. Location was a little out of the way but had excellent transport links so it was easy to get around. Breakfast had plenty of variety - continental breakfast, and the bar prices were reasonable.

Not the best experience ever....

Rude receptionist, rude barkeeper, spoilt the stay in this otherwise ok hotel. Was asked to sign a document, I said I need to get my glasses, receptionist said "come on just sign, you don't need your glasses !". As a frequent guest with Accor hotels, they offer a free welcome drink. I ordered a pint of beer. Barman said, "for freebies you only get small beers !" How small minded is that.... ? They should take a lesson from Ibis Vienna City, just round the corner, with very welcoming staff !
