Your breakfast service Friday 21st Aug was extremely disappointing. I asked for an omelette cooked to order, but was told that the omelettes had already been pre-cooked and that I couldn’t order one the way I wanted it. For a hotel or restaurant serving breakfast, I find it unacceptable that something as basic as an omelette can’t be freshly prepared to a guest’s request. The pre-cooked omelette I was given was terrible. I left it on my plate and ended up going elsewhere and paying for another breakfast. (My room was 346) Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the lack of flexibility from the kitchen made the whole breakfast experience very disappointing.

The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of town, with pretty much everything within walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, housekeeping was punctual and efficient every day, and the room itself was comfortable with good-quality beds, blankets and linen. The main opportunities for improvement are around some of the more dated facilities. Given it’s 2026 and the price point of the hotel, I would have expected a few more modern touches. Smart TVs, for example, are relatively inexpensive and make casting much simpler, as we’ve experienced at other Novotels. The air-conditioning filter was quite dirty and I had to clean it myself to get the unit working properly. Once cleaned, it performed better, although the heating mode still seemed to regularly switch itself off, making it difficult to maintain the desired room temperature. The shower head was also poorly positioned, which meant we had to keep a towel at the shower entrance to prevent water from flooding the bathroom. The laundry facilities are another area that could use an update, particularly given the price charged. At $12 overall to wash and dry a load, and considering how much use the facilities would get during peak periods, newer equipment seems like an investment that would be fairly easy to justify. The dinner menu at the restaurant was quite limited, which made it our least preferred dining option during the stay. We generally used it for convenience rather than because we particularly wanted to eat there. I appreciate the challenge of running a hotel restaurant where most customers are likely hotel guests, but a little more variety—particularly options that aren't deep fried—would have been appreciated and would make dining at the hotel more appealing. Overall, we had a really nice stay. While there were a few aspects that could be improved, none of them undermined the overall experience and they are more opportunities for improvement than deal breakers. We would definitely consider staying at the Novotel again on our next visit.
