In general, hotel and location were excellent. But we were let down by 2 things : 1. We arrived at 2.15 pm only to be told that the room is not ready till 4.30 pm 2. We have to let the front office know to do room make up. The cleaning service was not Good enough.

The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The apartment was amazing. The view, the facilities and the fact that it was so well maintained. It was huge with a full kitchen, coffee machine, internal laundry and an amazing balcony with views of the lake and mountains. It exceeded our expectations

The stay was great, was expecting the room to be a little better, the furniture in room 1016 was looking rather worn and some skirting boards could do with a lick of paint not a major but when paying $500+ a night and in Queenstown was expecting more, staff seemed very shy when we saw them around the grounds, housekeeping on the second day seemed to be very late afternoon past 4pm, is this normal. Have stayed at other Peppers Hotels previously. In saying this we have booked again for next November as it was a good sized room for our family, just far enough for the CBD for a casual stroll and loved the spa over looking the lake, especially after a wet half marathon this year. Def recommend staying there.

We enjoyed our stay at Peppers Beacon. The view and size of apartment was outstanding. The check in and check out process was very easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The parking was ample with easy access back to our unit. Loved that Peppers is a short walk to all that Queenstown has to offer.

The overall experience was Good. The place itself is nice and tidy. Nothing overly fancy, but this is sometimes better than over the top. Staff on the front counter were friendly and helpful every time we spoke to them - A+ for them, good staff are always a massive positive with any transaction. The rooms are not bad. We were in a corner room which restricted the view somewhat, but this was not an issue for us as we did our sign seeing elsewhere - we didn't want to sit on a balcony of the room the whole time. The place was within walking distance of the main town, so this was a big positive as it meant we didn't have to keep getting in the car every time we wanted to go out. The buffet breakfast was good. Nothing to rave about, but still a nice experience - maybe a bit over priced, but I am not an expert when it comes to these things and am happy to pay for a good meal. Overall we had a good experience. If you are looking for a place who does 5* meals and can provide a champagne style stay, this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you are looking for somewhere that is easy to find, has nice, decent rooms & friendly staff, you will find all this here. At least we did anyway.

We enjoyed our stay overall. Room was comfortable, great views, bed comfortable, showers/bath great.Room was well serviced and set up for a great stay. Tips: add in some salt and pepper sachets or shakers would be helpful as when travelling its good to have basics at finger tips. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary and my colleague arranged for some bubbles and nibbles to be placed in our room on our arrival with a small note included. However there was also a welcome message on mirror on bench from Peppers, with a cheeseboard ( that was from my colleague). This made it confusing as to who the wine and nibbles was from (suggested it was from Peppers). It was not till a couple of days later that I asked at desk if the wine was complimentary and they told me it was from my colleague but again not that the cheeseboard was also part of it. Felt this could have been handled better as I would have thanked my colleague for the gesture, but she had to tell me she had provided the wine and the nibbles as well. Still fantastic location, we have stayed with you before, but we are noticing that the rooms are starting to look a bit tired and need some maintenance done. E.g. ceilings, door and window frames need refresh etc. Also being charged for car-parking now after 10pm each night of stay, was unexpected. With cost of room rate feel this should not be an extra charge.

Way below standard for the price

We called ahead by a month to ensure we had a room with a bathtub and were assured it was... on arrival...found there was not. In the middle of the night people were walking and talking loudly on the staircase that was literally above our head when we slept, wall was so thin you could hear other peoples conversations... the banging of other peoples doors made our door bang like someone was breaking into our room. The carpets in room were literally lifted up in many areas. Chopping board in kitchen was dirty, the shower in the second room was missing a door, the extractor fan in the shower was disgustingly dirty, no hanging space in the rooms besides a tiny old cupboard, heaters on walls did not even come on. Walls were dirty. Shower in main room had terrible mould everywhere. Rooms had bed dressed when we were out but toilets were not cleaned. Cushions on couch had stains which was quite off putting. The tv in main room had 4 normal tv channels not even coming on... The second room that my children used had a very heavy hinge which was actually an adjoining room and so if the door closed we could not hear the kids and the room had outside access which was not appropriate for our family with kids our age. The breakfast downstairs was very basic, nothing above average for this hyped up hotel. The fact that you had to pay extra for an egg with an already overpriced buffet is quite disappointing. And to top it all you have to pay for parking when you are a guest at the hotel... not impressed and i won a competition for 2 nights and paid for the other 2 nights thinking i was going to an upmarket amazing hotel that my family would enjoy... at 737nzd a night... i think its terrible... i expected more...and frankly i have gotten alot more better quality of stay and treatment from motels and hotels charging less than a quarter of that price per night... the view is amazing but so is the view from alot of hotels on the same road... i paid for the experience and "so called" luxury promised and it far from delivered. I even complained about all the above to the guy from the front desk who said to report it in my review and gave us a heater with a broken wheel to use... but no action was taken to better improve our stay. Overall...i am very saddened and disappointed and expected way more even for the fact that i won it as a prize...but not even that was acknowledged.

Warm welcome , clean apartment,breath taking lake views, two bathroom a plus point. Wifi and tv channels should be free. Excellent box breakfast for early morning movements. Housekeeping can be taken care for making the rooms as early as possible. Parking fee if not waived can be at least lowered

We were "upgraded", but there was no point in having a two room apartment. We were next to another room that could see in our lounge, so we had to have the curtains closed. Not as clean as it could have been. I almost slipped over in the shower due to soap residue.

Hotel is a bit tired - particularly for the price even though I booked 5 rooms - we still had to pay for parking no bar we had an additional member that I put in to the Crowne Plaza for the same price (but nicer hotel)

Lovely apartment, very comfy beds, great bathroom and fabulous views. The tiles in the courtyard area need to be grouted; could be dangerous in terms of someone slipping on them.
