The experience would have been perfect if the room was properly clean. I found hair in the shower, and I got extra charged because I made a mistake in the booking that I did not add a second person. In booking.com in the same day was only 2£ more and in the hotel charged me almost 30 euros as a penalty. I couldn’t speak to a manager as he was not there when I checked in and check out.

not up to the usual standard. our room was accessed via a twisting corridor off the food section of the dining room. The outside window was cracked right across and the net curtains had to be kept closed as the room was overlooked. The shower flooded on its first use. The new higher tables in the dining room did not work, there were far too close to each other and there was only 1 person cleaning up,people had to wait for the tables to be cleaned before they could sit down. The menu had change slightly, the orange juice was a poor quality . the beans were freezing, didnt eat anything else hot as I dont eat eggs or meat.Overall, not a good impression, If it was my first stay at the hotel I would not return.

Underwhelming and not on par with other Mercure properties. Hotel is in a terrific location. On arrival to check in was not acknowledged for waiting up to ten minutes. There was no friendliness or smiles. The girl took my passport without eye contact and anymore than 'buongiorno'. Small pieces of paper were left on the desk from the previous guest. Upon check in there was NO introduction to any of the hotel's services. I heard her say to prior guests the mini bar was complimentary and was surprised to have been charged for ONE bottle of water. This girl did not appear to enjoy her job at all

The hotel is in a very central location and the staff are very friendly. The room we stayed in was not really suitable to be deemed a privilege room. The curtains were very badly hung on the windows and the blinds were broken. The curtains were partially closed and couldn't be opened due to broken pulleys. The windows are an unusual shape so it is probably difficult to dress them, however I'm sure improvements could be made. The air conditioning did not work and the room was very warm. We tried to leave the windows open slightly, which was difficult due to the curtains and then there was a smell from a drain? permeating the room. Overall it was OK but not very comfortable. We did inform a staff member on our last day but there didn't seem to be any changes to the aircon in the room. The smell did disappear, so maybe it was just in the mornings. I do not wish to complain, as I work in Customer Service myself but feel that you should be aware of the issues in the room. I would stay here again, just not in room 419.
