I have resided at the Ibis Hull about once every two months for the past three to four years, yet now, I believe the time may have come to find another place to stay in Hull which is a shame given the hotel’s fabulous location in the heart of the city centre and closeness to the railway station. The customer service and hospitality has become extremely lacklustre and grumpy at best during my last couple of residences at this Ibis Hotel; the team have lost interest in the guest, you are lucky if you get a ‘hello’ or ‘welcome’ on arrival and for the rest of the time the team hide away in the back office and cannot wait to get back to escape rather than assisting guests etc.. To be frank, the hotel teams courtesy levels are at an all time low and bordering on being impolite. As for the rooms, they are worn out given the constant wear and tear by guests over the years without any investment to renew the décor or update the hotel amenities (except the TV’s). The carpet/floor covering throughout the hotel are disgusting in places, stained and definitely clapped out. Sitting at the room shelf which doubled as the desk was far from comfortable to work at, given the non padded chair you are given to sit in but more so because of gusts of cold air coming through the ill fitting window above the desk (which the staff informed me would be the case throughout the hotel). The room’s pathetic and ancient heating system could not cope with the cold night, so I endured a chilly stay whilst in the room. Noise was a constant issue both from the main road outside and from guests in the corridors and from adjacent room through the thin dividing walls. The shower pressure was so weak I could hardly get the shampoo out of my hair. I skipped breakfast due to being so tired from the lack of sleep given the noise and cold room. I will think again before staying here once again and urge other potential guest to do so as well.

Great nights sleep

A S TripAdvisor review

I stayed one night as had to catch the early train to Manchester Airport the next morning. Got in bed, watched TV and slept without disturbance 9pm. Woke to find a security guard on duty with the night staff. at reception. The staff were okay, not too friendly. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower and toilet in a separate compartment, the heating worked and was adjustable. A quiet night. Well done Ibis; if only all your hotels were this good. Convenience for the transport links and shopping, 5mins walk.
