Dear Hotel Ibis Hull City Centre management, I am writing this email in regards to the issue that took place on 30/05/2026 room 301. My partner and I were staying at the Ibis Hotel Hull City Centre for 2 nights (29th - 31st May). Unfortunately, during the second night of our stay we were horrified and left to deal with the issue at hand ourselves. Please let me explain if you have not been informed already: Around midnight whilst my partner was asleep, someone began to bang on our hotel door and try the handle franticly, terrified, and after checking the door peep hole I saw an almost nude man slumped against our door trying the handle, I almost immediately called the police as I assumed he was to do us harm, instead I called the front desk to explain the situation in a panic, a lady answered and sighed down the phone as if this is a regular occurrence? She sent security up to deal with the man. During this call the man had begun to urinate against our door and entrance... some of which leaked into our room underneath the door. Having awoken my partner who was now petrified of this stranger at our door and screaming, the security showed up and nonchalantly escorted him away. It was then apparent the man was highly intoxicated. After having calmed my partner down to where she could breathe calmly again, I went down to the front desk to meet the lady on the phone, after explaining what happened she offered no apology and simply said "yeah I'm gonna clean it, I'm just waiting for security', there was no offer to move us to another room or ask us if we were okay or needed anything... Because of the urine leaking into our room, coupled with the fact that our air-cooling unit refused to turn on despite the fact it was switched on and the room was extremely warm for the whole evening, the warmth heated the urine on the carpet which doused the room in an ungodly foul aroma, making myself and my partner extremely queasy, thankfully I had some deodorant at hand which barely managed to get us through the night. Upon informing the front desk in the morning and explaining the situation I was concerned to learn that nothing had been passed on or said to the morning shift staff about the incident, they were unaware of the events that occurred and extremely shocked. I asked politely to speak to the manager to resolve the issue yet no one was available, to which a kind young lady gave me this email to contact to discuss this issue further and come to a resolution. Let me be clear, I am not pleased to be writing an email like this, and I am hopeful that you would not be happy to learn of this situation. My partner is practically traumatised after what happened, and with little to no sleep for myself, our drive home was awful. I have provided our booking details below. I do not wish to take this further; I wish to leave this behind us all and go our separate ways once properly resolved. I am completely unhappy with our stay at your hotel, and I would ask to be reimbursed for our full stay at your hotel. I await your response. Mr. W.. Booking details: Name: Jake W. No complaints. Usual IBIS standard, although this hotel somehow lacked the atmosphere and appeal of many. Perhaps just a bit tired and awaiting a refurb ?
