We stayed as we had planned a night out in Hull. The room is incredibly basic, the bathroom feels like a large aeroplane toilet. Having said that, the shower was powerful enough to wake me up in the morning, The toilet didn't flush properly however, took a lot of handle pushing. One of the reason we had booked was because the website mentioned air conditioning which on the hottest weekend in September - we needed, BUT IT DIDN'T work. We were offered one fan. The room was quite literally a 'sweat box'. We were not notified at check in that it wasn't working it is only because a kind cleaning lady mentioned to us. Given the temperature was in excess of 28 degrees, we feel we should have been notified prior to check in, offered at least a partial refund to re-book elsewhere if we wanted to. Although the room was 'clean' ( bar a stain on a pillow and duvet cover ) we were very unhappy with the lack of information regarding the air conditioning. When we asked about it, we were told they were awaiting parts to fix it - so they knew it was broken and still didn't mention it at check in. Luckily we stayed out late enough that all we needed to do was sleep and shower the next day, but we will not be returning.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; allow me to express my sincerest apologies. Please note that this problem was a true exception to our normal practices. Rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem. Please be aware we do not have air conditioning in the bedrooms at Ibis Hull, the system we have is only a cooling system which only works when the temperature outside the building is above 21 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately on the hottest weekend this year a part had failed in the system causing a breakdown on the Saturday morning which was unable to be repaired by our maintenance engineer as we needed a specialist part. Kindly accept the full compensation of your stay in the form of a credit refund of £59.01 which will be issued to your account within the next 5 working days. I would like to reiterate our commitment to high quality standards, and I personally would like to make sure you will experience it during your next stay with us. Hotel is well located, good breakfast. Rooms now a little dated, Air cooling system is very poor, in hot Weather, the room was uncomfortably warm.

Although the room could onlybe described as adequate and what would expect for the room rate, the reception/bar staff went over and above to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Upon arrival the reception staff realised I had a disability and moved our room to the ground floor close to reception. The staff went out of their way to help, ordering me a taxi informing the taxi driver where to pick me up at a point making my walk as short as possible. One young lady even offered to carry my drink from the bar to where we were sitting to avoid any discomfort for me
