Below expectations for a 4 star. Noisy room, smelly toilet, old furniture, not even water in the room, low shower pressure, no ironing ( just an iron room on a different floor with 1 iron for the full hotel). No benefits as an Accor member ( app was mentioning a welcome drink - nothing received or proposed). Will not go back again

What we love: - Service is efficient, hospitable and friendly - Love the breakfast options; bought some of their locally sourced products for souvenirs (honey, jams) - Location is unbeatable, the tram station is just across the road, and so as cafes, restaurants and convenient stores Even Better Ifs: - None

One of the elevators didn't work and I was stuck for a few minutes trying to use it. My suitcase wasn't labelled properly and when my friend dropped it off for me before I checked in, he wasn't given the slip as proof. As a result, I couldn't obtain my suitcase on my arrival which caused stress and delay while I was going to an important event that evening. The light in the bathroom didn't work the following morning. It was fine on day 1 but not on day 2. When I raised this problem with the staff at the checkout, the receptionist argued that I was wrong instead of accepting the complaint and having it checked. Overall, I was disappointed that a big and popular hotel like Mercure had technical issues and that the staff was not too friendly.

All was excellent, including addressing our request for a quiet room. The only surprise that had not been brought to our attention prior to arrival was the high cost of the parking.
