The service is great. Front desk was very friendly as was housekeeping. The buffet breakfast has a nice spread and the chef and staff were very attentive and friendly. However the facility as such is decades old and needs a makeover. The bathrooms facilities and fixtures, general room upkeep including carpets and elevators are from the 1980s or 1990s vintage. Needs a serious renovation to be seriously counted as a proper Novotel facility on par with their other global properties. It’s not in the same league as other Novotels elsewhere. Also, there aren’t any in room amenities provided (eg. Basic items like dental kits, shaving kits, shower caps or even drinking water bottles were not provided). Location is ok for the usage of adjoining corporate establishments but probably not the best for easy city or sightseeing access. The in house gym is good, on the plus side and the dining area is very spacious as well, though again the furniture and general ambience is a generation old. Again, the staff are excellent and they made us feel very welcome.

After a long day of driving and helping friends move house, I was exhausted. There is nothing better than feeling your body relax into the most comfortable bed. I have never had a bad sleep in a Novotel bed.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the helpful front staff who made everything clear and easy to understand. As a Platinum guest, my entitlements were explained well too. They were only to happy to answer additional questions I had. Parking is a little tight in the hotel property but at least there were plenty of available parks there and nearby at the racecourse. The twin queen bed room is spacious and well appointed. Bathroom was fully functional and shower was great. Good selection of decent welcome drinks. Breakfast was top notch and nice flat whites too. Hotel is situated in a good area - close to many parts of Auckland and just off the motorway. We'd definitely stay here again.
