Doswiadczony 23/01/2022 TripAdvisor review

Building is a bunker, rooms and corridors claustrophobic with tiny windows with almost no light. Terrible breakfast that still is served from buffet by staff - nobody does that anymore. Overpriced for what you get.

Excellent location. Clean. Friendly helpful staff

Clean modern hotel located a stone's throw away from the Colloseum. Excellent breakfast. All modern amenities. Staff very courteous and friendly. Only improvement could be better sound proofing between rooms/corridors. Would happily stay again.

Everything was satisfying, but we didnt like the breakfast arrangement, that you have to ask from the waiter. Everything is far away from you and it takes time to ask what they have and then the waitress runs from you many times… you dont feel comfortable. For me the value of the buffee breakfast is that you look and choose and decide and take your time. I am not sure that it helps to avoid contact that well.

The interaction with the desk, housekeeping and bar staff was very good. The actual room, with a staircase direct from the room, the shower direct in the room was not the best.

The hotel was a huge deception. Everything there is done to save money at the expense of the comfort of its guests. Rooms are small and stuffy, in a bad need of a refurbishment. The barhroom stinks if you close its door during the night as there is no ventilation in it. Old mattrases are covered in a plastic hose which makes you sweat. The duvet was stained and synhetic. The air conditioning noisy and old and probably not cleanrd regularly as my eyes were swollen and I had an allergic reaction. Our room has a view on the Collosseo but was terribly noisy. The windows are very small and here are many of them, they are not well isolated do they shake every time a tram or metro passes by. There is apparantly slso a metro line under the building which causes vibrations. We only had paper cups/glasses. No iron in rhe room but there is an ironing room, a sad little llace where it is impossible to iron as its so smaal that you can hardly stand behind the iron. The iron never reaches the temperature which sllows you to iron. The hotel has an amazing roof top pool and terrace but it was closed and with not a single chair around it. The roof bar was also closed although the weather was good. For comparison, the Sofiter Rome roof bar is open even in january. Th breakfast was another ordeal. We were forced to wait in line in front of a display of food which you dont see and ask the waiter for each item. They are obviously not trained for this so you finish by negotiating every piece of bread. No hodpitalizlty there, just another way of saving money using the pretext of the pandemic. The “waiter” even told us that the goverment did not let them have a buffet. In other hotels in Rome the waiter comes to your table in an old fashion way and takes the order. You feel more than a guest and less like a kid in a school canteen where you have to peek to see whats there. Coffee was horrible. Only instant coffee. For a hotel in Rome, or anywhere, thats inacceptable. We would go buy a real espresso at a place next door and then come get out breakfast. Ghe food at breakfast is cheap and not good. The price of the stay was exaggerated. We moved to another hotel in the same area (the Celio hotel) for 150 a night instead of 240 and the experience was great. Bigger rooms, brakfast served at the table, roof garden open gor guests with sunbeds and tables and chairs, an iron and ironing board in the room, a warming “vale. For trousers, shou shining gear, gos isolation….

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write this review about your stay at the Mercure Rome Colosseum Centre. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. We will certainly be inspecting your room to verify the maintenance conditions. However I can assure you that the AC filters are constantly cleaned. Our Terrace is normally open from May to September and we make sure this is clearly advertised through all our distribution channels. Unlike the terrace you can find at the Sofitel that is mainly enclosed, our is completely unshelted. Despite the weather condition we have to plan its closure way in advance and once we do close it we can not go back despite some nice days that can happen every now and then. I am really sorry the breakfast was such a let down. I can confirm that the assisted buffet formula complies the local regulation and was for us the only option in consideration of our assets and staff; unlike some other hotels, like the Celio I assume, that could manage to afford a different formula as they serve probably a fifth of our breakfast every day. Our Staff is trying to do its best in this situation and we hope to be allowed to go back to our regular service soon. I do believe that we can certainly do better and thank you very much for your comments and suggestion. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future, hopefully when we will not be restricted and able to fulfill your expectations. Kind Regards Giuseppe Fioretti Room Division Manager Mercure Rome Colosseum Centre

The location of this hotel is perfect. Not only, cause you are just a 2 min. walk away from the Colosseo. We loved even more, that the district around the hotel is free of these countless tourist trap restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed every breakfast and every dinner in that area and had some fantastic, authentic and affordable food. Something we did not expect in such a tourism friendly location, where most sightseeing hotspots are in short walking distance. The hotel itself was a nice experience as well. We booked the biggest room and enjoyed it. The staff was fantastic and the pool/sundeck and the bar on the rooftop made our Rome stay a highlight!

Well located but could use a ”fresh coat of paint”

Staff is great, location is fantastic but the furniture in our room had paint peeling off of it. I think overall the hotel has a nice early 2000’s aesthetic vibe, but it could use a renovation. Considering the hotel’s location and unusual character in relation to its context, I would commission some good architects to give it a tasteful do-over, which respects its current style.

The location is perfect nice staff but several things in the hotel need improvements, like bed mattresses, shorten the waiting time to be served at breakfast, rooms are very noisy, for the rooms at the street the walls were shaking when a tram or a big car would pass, windows are very small allow for limited view.

Dear Guest, Thank you for answering out Satisfaction survey and giving us a feed back of your stay. We are very grateful for the positive feed back toward our staff, they really work hard to make sure every guest has a nice experience. We are sorry about the structural issues you experience and certainly be looking into them with our Maintenance department. Our mattress have been changed lately and said to be very comfortable, we will investigate if that room has any issue indeed. We are aware that the actual breakfast formula suffers from slow downs and we are really looking forward to go back to the normal buffet when the local regulations will allow. We apologize you had to suffer such a long wait. We thank you again and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Kind Regards Giuseppe Fioretti Room Division Manager Mercure Rome Colosseum Centre

This was our second stay at this hotel and once again it was a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is well situated with a beautiful view of the Colosseo and the rooftop swimming pool. The rooms are big enough even for a longer stay and very clean. But the greatest advantage of this hotel is the very friendly staff at the highest level.

Check-in Early arrival so the room wasn't available. I left my luggage to explore the city and when I returned, the suitcase was already up in my room. Stay Basic single room, which met my needs. Breakfast had a good spread. Check-out Easy process. Staff assisted me by calling a taxi. Service I had Euros 100 that I needed changed to smaller denomination. I had asked the receptionist and the Coffee House waiter who happened to be there had the audacity and rudeness to say, 'We are not a bank.' I made it clear to him that I know that it is not a bank and he tried to cover up by saying it was a joke. I never understand why people who don't like providing service work in the service industry. Aside from that appalling attitude, the staff were generally professional. Maybe not personable nor engaging but alright.

Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay in our hotel I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies about the attitude of some elements of our staff during your stay. I can assure you that does not represents our usual standards. I will certainly be sharing with them your comment and make sure such circumstances not to occur in the future. We always strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. We hope to have a chance to welcome you again in Rome. Hotel is in an ideal location with a bus stop and tram stop just outside the hotel. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum and you can actually get a view of the Colosseum from your room if you have paid for a Colosseum view. The hotel is very clean and modern and the rooms are just the right size and the staff were helpful. Room was always cleaned every day and we were very impressed with our stay and would happily stay here again if we ever returned to Rome.

The hotel is ideally located within a stone's throw of the Colosseum and within 20 - 30 minute walking distance of most of the important and scenic tourist spots in Rome. It is within a 5 minute walking distance to the Hop On Hop Off (tickets available at the hotel reception) bus stop (Colosseum). It also has many dining options close to the hotel. The staff at the hotel is extremely courteous and willing to help in planning your visit to the tourist spots. The rooms are very spacious, clean and with all required amenities. It is also only a 30 minute drive from the airport.
