The hotel was a good choice for me and I would recommend it to others and I would return there myself again. It was a bit overpriced, I don't know if that's the regular price and simply because Rome hotels are expensive or because there was some kind of event in town during my stay. Italians don't eat continental breakfast, so they have a huge variety of sweet croissants and bakery products, most of them are too sweet and some of them syrupy. They also had fresh fruits salad which was good and relatively good coffee. Cheese and ham, salami selection was not too wide, 2-3 types of each, and they also had eggs and bacon. What they had was of good quality though. So, it's not a luxury hotel, but for Mercure I think it's a good one. The room was small but clean (let's say 90% of my expectance but I cleaned and disinfected everything, especially the bathroom and the doorknobs, tape control...), the reception staff was kind and helpful. The location is really good, about 5-7 minutes walk to the Colosseum where there is a metro station. Close to the hotel are smaller mini markets, a smaller Carrefour, many restaurant and pizzerias. My favourite: Li Rioni a Santiquattro, 160 m from the hotel, not expensive and authentic, not too touristy.

lovely hotel in a terrific location. Few minutes walk to the Colosseum and handy for most of the sights. Rooftop pool could do with heating, but great views from up there!

Hotel has a great a location minutes from Colosseum, so it's understandable that rooms are tiny. The bad surprise was that AC was switched off in the hole building. The day I stayed it was +24 day time and being inside the room was a natural torture even with open windows. I honestly do not understand how 4 start hotel can not have AC in a room. We escalated the problem to the stuff, they were very nice and offered two alternative rooms / extra free drink in the bar.

Best ever welcome when we arrived for our stay.Everything was explained to us with extra help on the local area. Housekeeping on our room was first class. Breakfast was good with covid restrictions but could have done with a bit more choice. Location of the hotel was ideal for our stay. Friendly attentive staff. It was a shame the roof bar was closed.

Two stays either side of a weekend. Each room in disrepair. Wallpaper damaged or stank Ed. Furniture in first marked and chipped. Tiles on second broken. Very old mattress. No cups unless asked for. Carpets worn . Staff very efficient and nice . Feel sorry for them with quality of the building

Taking Covid restrictions into consideration, this stay was overall good. We would consider visiting this hotel again, if we ever went back to Rome. The breakfast buffet (which was served by the staff because of Covid) had an extraordinary selection. We've been to 5-star hotels, like Sofitel, where the selection was a lot worse than what Mercure could offer. The staff was very friendly, even though it was sometimes very hard to understand what they were saying. Especially the staff at the checkin desk gave an excellent service and answered all our questions. The room was mediocre. I understand that the central AC was disabled since it was still cold in the evenings and the weather generally was cold. But when we stayed, the weather was good and the temperature was 20-23C which meant the room was very hot. The reception couldn't do anything about this, understandable, but it was still over 30C in the room when we went to bed. We could've opened the terrasse door, but the noise was worse than the heat. The water pressure in the rain shower was very weak and sometimes the sewer overflooded, when you were in the shower. It seemed to have a hard time draining the water when you were showering. The location of the hotel was pretty good. It was close to the Colosseum and there was plenty of restaurants near by that served great food. It's a bit far away from all the shopping areas, but taxi and metro helped compensate for this. We were satisfied with our stay.

Nice hotel with very good service. Location is idea and quiet enough to not feel in the middle of the tourist scene. Rooms are small but functional and I had a fantastic view of the Coliseum. Room pool was not open yet but I imagine it is fantastic in the warmer months.

I have booked a "Superior Room w/ view", but was given a corner room at first floor, when I arrived at night time. Not much "superior". While it was good to have kettle and coffee/tea making facilities, but nowhere to find any cup or glass to poor in the hot water in. Not even in the bathroom (where usually cups for tooth brushing should be to find). Had to walk to the reception, and was given some paper cups, which might have been forgotten to place in the room by service before. After a shower I realised that the extremely noisy whistleling caused by heating pipes would remain for the rest of the night (and I mean a constant NOISE like inside an airplane cabin - I have saved a video for proof). Also the bedsheet was stained by kind of black ink spots or stain patterns like shoeprints!? When I went to the reception again to complain, I was finally offered to move to another room at a higher floor, which I gladly accepted despite having to re-pack my suitcase and move late at night. But the move was worth the effort - the room I finally got was one I would consider "Superior" and appropriate to a 4* Hotel. While the staff was friendly, and quickly offered a solution, I still take some offense at the fact, that they have tried in the first to give me a room, which is so crappy that it should not be given to customers in any Hotel, especially because the heating pipe noise issue. I'm convinced, that I was not the first and not the only customer, who had complained before about this, but the hotel management still tries to give this room away to customers, who are stupid enough not to complain. That's very pity, because if this incident would not have happened to me, I would have loved my stay - as well as the friendliness of the otherwise well mannered staff, as well as the fantastic breakfast. For the future I would wish the management would show a little more respect toward clients, and not trying to slip them a dodgy and faulty room.

Building is a bunker, rooms and corridors claustrophobic with tiny windows with almost no light. Terrible breakfast that still is served from buffet by staff - nobody does that anymore. Overpriced for what you get.

This was our second stay at this hotel and once again it was a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is well situated with a beautiful view of the Colosseo and the rooftop swimming pool. The rooms are big enough even for a longer stay and very clean. But the greatest advantage of this hotel is the very friendly staff at the highest level.

Check-in Early arrival so the room wasn't available. I left my luggage to explore the city and when I returned, the suitcase was already up in my room. Stay Basic single room, which met my needs. Breakfast had a good spread. Check-out Easy process. Staff assisted me by calling a taxi. Service I had Euros 100 that I needed changed to smaller denomination. I had asked the receptionist and the Coffee House waiter who happened to be there had the audacity and rudeness to say, 'We are not a bank.' I made it clear to him that I know that it is not a bank and he tried to cover up by saying it was a joke. I never understand why people who don't like providing service work in the service industry. Aside from that appalling attitude, the staff were generally professional. Maybe not personable nor engaging but alright.

Hotel is in an ideal location with a bus stop and tram stop just outside the hotel. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum and you can actually get a view of the Colosseum from your room if you have paid for a Colosseum view. The hotel is very clean and modern and the rooms are just the right size and the staff were helpful. Room was always cleaned every day and we were very impressed with our stay and would happily stay here again if we ever returned to Rome.

The hotel is ideally located within a stone's throw of the Colosseum and within 20 - 30 minute walking distance of most of the important and scenic tourist spots in Rome. It is within a 5 minute walking distance to the Hop On Hop Off (tickets available at the hotel reception) bus stop (Colosseum). It also has many dining options close to the hotel. The staff at the hotel is extremely courteous and willing to help in planning your visit to the tourist spots. The rooms are very spacious, clean and with all required amenities. It is also only a 30 minute drive from the airport.
