Mercure Rome Colosseum Centre 4 stars

Lovely location at the heart of Rome. Breakfast not the best scrambled egg was runny and sausages were hot dogs but to be expected I suppose although not worth the extra cost for it.

Comfortable hotel, cheerful, helpful staff great roof top pool with views of Coliseum.

Helpful friendly staff made us feel very welcome and importantly very safe during the Covid19 crisis.

first time in Rome and I had an upgrade to a room with view on the Coliseum. Only the walls are very bad and I could hear my room neighbors very well.

The hotel location is superb - 5 mins walk from the Colosseum! The hotel itself is clean, rooms are a good size etc. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic there are restrictions with using the pool. There are only 6 people allowed in the pool at any one time, 16 people sitting around the pool and a max of 2 hours at the pool. During our stay these restrictions were not adhered to! At times there were 10 people in the pool and nearly 20 people sitting around the pool. The manager we spoke to was very unhelpful and appeared to bend the rules to suit. This was very disappointing as I had specifically booked a hotel with a pool for us to enjoy!

Firstly I would like to thank every staff that helped us out on our stay this weeks. I am very sorry, but I didn’t write down the staff names, but the guy and the lady at the reception on our check in on the 27/8 around 12:00 was fantastic and helped me straight way to sort out our room. The first room had a cigarette smell, but he didn’t hesitate to change us straight way, the new room smelt nice, was very clean, the housekeeping lady was around the corridors making sure everything was clean and completed, and beds very comfortable. After the check in, we went to the swimming pool, what a view to the Colloseum, FANTASTIC!!! Swimming pool nice and clean, the guy that was a life guard extremely polite, explained the rules, brought our towels, gave us the hats and was extremely friendly and helpful. The swimming pool bar, very clean, could have more options of snacks, but it didn’t impact our concept, the guy that was the bar man was very knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast also was a plus, clean, good selection and the polite Romenian lady (she served us at the swimming pool bar too) was amazing and did everything that she could to make sure we were ok. We really enjoyed our stay and I would like to Thank everyone for making our stay very special. We will definitely come back. Please send mine and my son’s appreciation to every member of staff! Perfect location, with stunning view on Colosseum in a very modern and fully equipped 4* hotel.

Insane. And this is a 4 star? We found: months old bird poop all Over the rooms balcony glass windows. Empty plastic bottles all over and under the bed, a used old sock between the curtains. Leather Furniture has scratches and huge holes. I have pictures of all. Horrendous, will review all over internet with pictures.

The staff were welcoming. It was very helpful to be able to leave my luggage in the room.

Check-in Early arrival so the room wasn't available. I left my luggage to explore the city and when I returned, the suitcase was already up in my room. Stay Basic single room, which met my needs. Breakfast had a good spread. Check-out Easy process. Staff assisted me by calling a taxi. Service I had Euros 100 that I needed changed to smaller denomination. I had asked the receptionist and the Coffee House waiter who happened to be there had the audacity and rudeness to say, 'We are not a bank.' I made it clear to him that I know that it is not a bank and he tried to cover up by saying it was a joke. I never understand why people who don't like providing service work in the service industry. Aside from that appalling attitude, the staff were generally professional. Maybe not personable nor engaging but alright.

Hotel is in an ideal location with a bus stop and tram stop just outside the hotel. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum and you can actually get a view of the Colosseum from your room if you have paid for a Colosseum view. The hotel is very clean and modern and the rooms are just the right size and the staff were helpful. Room was always cleaned every day and we were very impressed with our stay and would happily stay here again if we ever returned to Rome.

The hotel is ideally located within a stone's throw of the Colosseum and within 20 - 30 minute walking distance of most of the important and scenic tourist spots in Rome. It is within a 5 minute walking distance to the Hop On Hop Off (tickets available at the hotel reception) bus stop (Colosseum). It also has many dining options close to the hotel. The staff at the hotel is extremely courteous and willing to help in planning your visit to the tourist spots. The rooms are very spacious, clean and with all required amenities. It is also only a 30 minute drive from the airport.

Great location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast selection. We were upgraded to a room with views to the Colosseum however due to the dirty windows we could not appreciate the view. Also the bar was pretty poor. No ambience at all. You should think about taking advantage of the outstanding view at the top level during winter too.

We booked two rooms, one a 2 + 1 and another upgrade with a view of the Colosseo. The Colosseo view is a small portal the size of a large dinner plate, The hotel front end staff were great, we had a very early morning check out which they managed 100%. Breakfast daily was great as were the daily morning staff. Great location and to go into Rome the 85 or 51 bus on the hotel side of the road is the easiest to navigate. Dinner was great (the tomhawke pork and pasta and the best was the ceasar salad) with thanks to Davidee and Allfonsea (we know that Allfonsea is moving to Australia for a working holiday ) and we hope to keep in touch with both. PS The pool should be opened for a longer period as the heat justified it in October 19.
