Dear Team, We stayed at the IBIS BUDGET in Houdemont, Lorraine, France for one night, 26th December 2025 room 330 third floor with a mezzanine. We stay here fairly regularly and don’t usually have any issues. My 13 year old son slept upstairs in the bed closest to the mezzanine wooden balcony. During this stay, he ended up with a thin piece of metal, from the bed frame, piercing and going quite deep into his ankle, so much so that the whole of it was almost fully into his flesh and snapped off…. He pulled it out and did bleed. I do travel with a first aid kit, so was able to clean it and dress it with a plaster. I reported this to the reception and although they apologised I feel as if the seriousness of this incident was lost in translation. This could have gone into an eye etc. We didn’t bring anything into the room with any metal like this, so can assure you it wasn’t from us and my son says the metal came from the bedframe, like a staple or splinter of metal to keep fabric in place which he caught himself on. Overall, the stay was comfortable. The location is good. The sheets were clean but the room had a stinky smell and also smelled of cigarettes.
