We extended our booking by two days because of flight delays. This then turned into two bookings. We were told that if we wanted the same room throughout, we would have to upgrade our room for the whole stay. We did this and paid the extra, even though as Diamond members we might have expected an upgrade anyway. We had requested a late checkout, which again should be offered to Diamond members and was given that. On the last day, we were then booted out of the room we had paid for and moved to a basic room. I do not know why. It was not the case that all that class of room were booked as they were still being offered as available on the Accor app. To cap it, we were told we would need to pay for the executive lounge, even though it is complementary to Diamond members. Needless to say, I did not agree to pay any more. Overall, this left a bitter taste to our stay in what otherwise is a very nice hotel.

We had a lovely stay at Sofitel Saigon Plaza. The room is a little dated, but it is very well maintained and spotless. Housekeeping was excellent throughout our stay. The location is ideal, set slightly away from the hustle and bustle, yet still within easy walking distance to the main attractions in District 1. Breakfast at Mezz Restaurant offers a great selection of delicious food, and you can order local Vietnamese coffee such as coconut or egg coffee with your preferred milk. What truly stood out was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. A special thank you to Mr Lee, who took great care of us and shared fantastic local recommendations. A real gem.
