While the staff and the spa services were great, the building itself is in very poor shape for a “5 Star” location. Visible dust, mold, peeling paint, caving ceiling due to water leak, observed both in the hotel, restaurant, and spa sections. Need major renovations.

Over the years I've become a regular visitor to the Sofitel Biarritz. I personally always love returning there. Staff are invariably extremely nice, from pre-arrival responses all the way to waiting staff, the location is great, the food and drink offerings are excellent and I love the views and the outdoor swimming pool. Of course, not everything is perfect. The rooms and common parts alike are showing their age a little and could probably do with a little renovation especially given the often high prices, but I still find everything very comfortable and well equipped. Whilst the spa equipment is great, it was a bit of a shame that the excellent hammam was closed during my visit, and the indoor pool not usable a couple of times due to classes (I understand that this can happen but I think it would be good to give information more pro-actively about such disruptions so that other guests can adapt their schedule). All those things are minor details though and I very much enjoyed this stay as I have every previous one and can't wait to be back already!
