This property is in poor shape. The carpet was stained, paint was peeling, mold in the shower. No AC in the room and the temperature and it was uncomfortably hot in the room. We had one dinner in the restaurant which was very poor quality.

We chose the Sofitel as it seemed like the best hotel in the area and ordinarily Sofitel is a decent brand but this hotel is neither of those things. The decor and furnishings are old-fashioned and not in a good state of repair - the attached photo is near the entrance hall and looks very run-down. There was mould on the walls of our Founder's room. The website is really misleading - the hotel does not look like the photos at all. The service was not great. All in all a very disappointing stay and the standards were very low, particularly in light of the rate we were charged for the stay. Like I said above, we usually associate the brand Sofitel with a decent quality stay but this hotel was wholly inferior. Your website says you value feedback and if I were the manager of this hotel I would want to know what is going on.

We visit the hotel twice a year and have been doing so for 20 years. It is always warm and welcoming, professional and consistent. A fabulous night of relaxation as we drive between England and Portugal.

While the staff and the spa services were great, the building itself is in very poor shape for a “5 Star” location. Visible dust, mold, peeling paint, caving ceiling due to water leak, observed both in the hotel, restaurant, and spa sections. Need major renovations.
