I was upgraded to a suite so I had plenty of space but very poor facilities although the bed was good and the aircon effective and quiet. But a shower over the bath was not a good feature to offer and elderly woman, the sofa was so soft and low it was unusable, the espresso machine was a nice feature but the mugs provided were too big to fit, the safe was too small to take the iPad. The whole place looks like it’s ready for a complete upgrade.

Not Novotel standard 4/4.5 hotel well overdue for refurbishment currently I would say Ibis Styles standard. Made booking 12 mths prior direct hotel & given room111, just awful outdated terrible outlook not worth $314 p/n. Rio hotel mgr upgraded us to room 125 little better but not worth $374 p/n. Carpets throughout hotel smelt musty, smouldering, Smokey look terrible need of deep clean/ new carpet.Only 1lift working as 2nd lift been out 6mths already @ will still be for awhile yet.Whilst sitting near reception area waiting for friend tree branch from above fell on me, staff not too concerned as were other customers rushed over. Buffet hot b’fast not hot or inviting to eat? We didn’t sleep the 3nts as lots of continued noise outside under our room in driveway of hotel all night-early hrs of morning from Indigenous family drinking yelling running in & out of hotel foyer with small children. We tried to have a swim after full day touring but had to report to reception child in pool/ area with unresponsive parent as we were worried for young child’s safety in pool! Beds were comfortable, globe needed in one bed lamp not working. Overall very disappointed with stay as neither of us had been to Darwin as going on Ghan- Adelaide.Have stayed in many Novotel’s without any issues.Regards Jann C..

All staff greeted us and were helpful throughout our stay. The facility however is old dirty and worn out. No the Novatel standard i am used to.

Couldn’t check in due to internet issues, was told 10 mins wait but was nearly 50 mins. Only got a room after we complained, key card did not work on the second day so back to reception and waited 20 mins as unattended- had to go to the bar to ask for help with 2 staff standing there doing nothing while 5 guests were waiting at reception. One lift broken so everyone using one lift so wait times could be long and lift shakes like it’s about to breakdown. Not a great stay.

On checking in, I had to wait over 30 minutes while housekeeping completed the final check of the room. Only having one slow lift was not a pleasant experience especially for a Novotel. The evening meal, steak was lukewarm to the point where the butter hardly melted. Contractors working around but exterior to the hotel keep me awake most of the night. Your staff did their best to make me feel welcome.

I frequent Darwin every quarter with business and this was my first experience staying at Novotel Darwin and unfortunately will be my last. I do not believe that this accommodation matched the supposed 4 star rating and premium charged. My room was changed from level 5, an unmentioned construction zone, to a room on the 4th level. This room was full of mould that continued from an unventilated bathroom to the main room. The bathroom stinch of musky mould and urine was only dissipated once I requested it was cleaned. The mould on the floor in the shower removed but the walls and shower frame remained. In the open room area the floor scattered with food stains and the fire sprinklers appeared to be consumbed by the fluff and mould growing around them. I dont expect 4 stars when staying in Darwin but at a bare minimum a clean room. There are many more things to note like the broken door that I wedged a chair against each night or fridge that let off loud cracking and surging noise each hour heard through ear plugs, but I will stop there and leave on the only high note. The front office staff where delightful and welcoming and its a absolute shame my experience wasnt soley based on my experience with them.

The Novotel Darwin CBD is quite rundown. There are numerous faults - probably too many to mention. It just does not live up to the Novotel standards at all.

1. Reception not well staffed and had to wait many times to be attended too 2. Bathroom with no exhaust fan and a notice asking to close bathroom door to stop the fire alarm from sounding 3. Three people staying in the room , only2 towels , 2 glasses , attention to detail lacking 4. Had to request extra towels twice before they were delivered 5. Had to move a rectangular table to act as a bedside table as only one in place standing between the two QUEEN beds 6.Interior of the hotel with the wonderful indoor rain forest is impressive , this was not transferred to the outdoor poor area where the gardens are poorly maintained with dead palms and plants

I come to this hotel several years now. I love the location in Darwin. But one of the elevators was broken the whole two weeks. And this is not exactly the first time. At some point even both were broken. The elevators should have been replaced 10 years ago. If you look more carefully at the state of the building, then you can just see the lack of maintenance or even original build quality. Single glazing? Brown stained carpets? Scafolding to support the roof plates? Shower removed at the pool? Dated bathroom? No Nespresso coffeemaker in every room? Bar closed at 10pm? Poor coffee at breakfast but offering the good coffee at extra cost? Accor, it is an expensive hotel. That's fine; but then everything should be top-notch. Unfortunately it isn't. Only 1 working lift our entire 11 night stay. The only lift that was working was extreamly slow and constantly wobbled and knocked. The rooms were stained, holes in the walls, aircon filters we had to clean ourselves as they were all blocked, carpets stained, walls utterly filthy, bathrooms disgusting, had pubic hair still on the shower wall, mould scum in the shower, the toilet stunk constantly of stale urine & was extreamly aged & stained. We had to move rooms during our stay due to lack of maintenance on the air conditioner, the room we moved to was equally if not worse. Level 5 is a construction zone filled with scaffolding. There were cockroaches in the room & running over the cleaners trolley.. the food was horrible.. not worth your money to stay here. Avoid at all costs. We stayed here as novatel usually has a good name.. very very disgusted.
