I have been travelling to Darwin for work for the last eight years and mainly staying at the NOVOTEL Darwin CBD, sadly over the years and under several mangers the hotel has slowly deteriorated, I continued to stay their mainly because it was the cheapest of the Accor hotels in town and as a platinum member (60+ nights in Accor hotels) usually get an upgrade. However this will be the last time I stay at Novotel Darwin CBC, as the hotel has gone down so badly, The AC unit barely worked, and when I opened the front cover to check if the filter had been cleaned it was putrid, light fittings were not working, the cable TV was disconnected. I raised these issues with the manager, who said cable was disconnected because it’s expensive and most people stream their own these days, but surprisingly almost straight away without requesting said he can refund the rest of my stay.. which got me thinking that was the way the hotel deals with issues. The repairs were never undertaken, Most staff on the front counter, seem to be these days from overseas and most likely on 457 visas with poor customer skills, I must however say the lady running the restaurant in a morning was very good, and did mention she is on her 3rd manager at the hotel. Strongly suggest spending a few more dollars and look at other hotels, Accor should be ashamed keeping this hotel under their banner.

The Novotel is well situated within easy walking distance of many local attractions. We had a room with a view of the harbour. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast on 2 mornings.

Accor diamond. Fiercely loyal. Booked for 5 nights, stayed 1. Shocking room that smelt of mould. Worst bed ever. Hotel very rundown. Breakfast fare was like prison food. Raised concerns with head office, they said not our problem. Never heard from Novotel Darwin. Suggest steering clear of this bit

The hotel is clearly in need of some work. In comparison to many of the Novotel's I have stayed at this one is at the lower end and there has not been an obvious investment in the property in the years I have stayed here. With regards to the room, the beds were comfortable but there was obvious long term mould in the tile grout in our shower. For those in the Accor program, there was no usual bottles of water or gifts in the room (for those not in the program there are often really cool local treats left in your room as a gift when you are in the program...particularly when you are Gold or above). When I went to the bar to use my drink vouchers I waited over 5 minutes before going to reception to ask if there was anyone serving in the bar today at 3.30pm. We decided that we would then go elsewhere for drinks because we were clearly an inconvenience to other activities for the staff. All in all, this hotel has gone down hill since I last visited so I hope it is able to get some love back to it as it was previously my preferred place to stay - not sure I will stay there next visit.

I have stayed in many Novotels in Australia and around the world and this is the first time that I have experienced a hotel that fell well below the standard. From check in to room quality and maintence to buffet breakfast - all were noticeably substandard. At check in, in spite of having credit card info on file (for the last 10 years or so) I was required to pay in advance and to leave an additional security deposit. The room keys did not unlock the room, even after 2 trips to the reception counter for checking. Reported faults with the room were not even examined let along fixed - this included the room safe which meant I had to carry valuables with me for my entire stay. Daily room cleaning was cursory and extremely late. The breakfast buffet was nowhere near Novotel standard - for me this is one of the constand delights of Novotels worldwide but this was not part of that standard. Rather than extending for the rest of my stay I moved out to an ordinary hotel that at half the price was much better. The only positive from the Novotel was that the room was quiet.
